What are you talking about - that's the libertarian firmula for law enforcement - privatized, of course. All the justice money can buy (God help you if you are poor.)
Only a socialist would think that any private company would tell someone "sorry, but you have to pay up" when there is an emergency. You do realize that there are private ambulances out there right? You do realize that when they get a call, the first thing they do is resolve the emergency, then bill you, right?
God help you if you're poor anyway. Or would you go willingly live in the projects or inner city. There are places the public police force won't go.
You also don't seem to understand the nature of charity. In the days before public schools, the wealthy would endow schools with money to teach the poor. Education was a bid deal in early America, but then you'd not know that, seeing as you don't seem to read history. The same thing would be true for police forces. Even if it's for the entirely selfish reason that rich people don't want crime spilling over from poor neighborhoods into their own, they'd fund basic police services in poor areas. While some people undoubtedly would do it for just that reason, the vast majority of people would do it because it's the right thing to do.
Check out whose inside at your house, (specially at on your back)
nope not his neighbor, thank the heavens....lol
That's funny. It's kind of misleading though. I don't have any guns in my home, but that doesn't mean I'm completely defenseless. I've got little goodies scattered here and there that will make any intruder regret entering my home. Defense is a state of mind, it doesn't always have to do with the tools at your disposal.
as bazzar as this is, they way city budgets go, it makes you wounder!
There is a whole story that goes with it, if you look it up. I do wonder though, how true it is.
I don't think it'll get that bad. We've had a much worse "perfect storm" of crime in the late 1960's and 1970's and survived it. Come to think of it we also survived the crack epidemic of the 1980's and 1990's and we, by and large, have the lowest crime rate in the post-World War II era.
If we do have a massive crime wave in the future, I think it will be due to, well the sorts of things that led to a high crime rate in England during the 17th and 18th centuries. Poverty.
I also think that people will not rely so much on the police to protect them and remember that each of us, as individuals, are responsible for our own self-defense. That, more than anything else, will nip a crime wave in the bud. Criminals count on people being wimps and waiting for someone else to help them. The greatest fear of any criminal is that a potential victim doesn't fear them.
John Wayne speaks
Jeez!
When your the last man standing maybe do a bit of soul searching eh?
Whatever. You don't seem to get that it's rare for a cop to bust up a crime in progress. If you wait around for someone to help you, you put yourself at the mercy of someone who has already shown they don't care much for your well being. You might feel comfortable doing something like that, but I don't.
P.S. What's wrong with the Duke? A great man, by all accounts.
And the answer is to be a violent vigilante ?
Don't you get the irony here?
Wow - you are so brave and tough, my panties are wet already.
I sleep with two VERY protective, loud, alert Great Danes, and I have a 12-gauge shotgun beside the head of my bed. I feel pretty safe!
