Why have my Google payments gone down?

I monitor my Google Adsense payments very carefully, and was getting quite excited by the prospect of £60 coming my way ere long.

However, over one day my total has gone down by about £6, with my clicks total reduced from 310 to 280 - so the £60 payment is not so imminent after all!

I know that I have not broken any rules - no click frauding on my part and no asking of anyone else to click on my behalf. So what is going on?

it happens sometimes our earning goes down as we know our earning calculation is very complex work it depends upon these things no of Page impressions,no of Clicks,Page CTR  and Page eCPM . Do not worry about income it will be on right path after some days

Hi, I would just like to ask is it your first 60 pound payment you are waiting for? if so, I wouldn't get upset about a drop in earnings, I was averaging 6 pound also last week and then traffic to my best hub dropped about 200-300 visits but it does rise again once your search engine rank is regained, you just have to have faith in the system and keep working hard..I have been notified my second payment is on its way! big_smile

Adsense was under maintenance on 9th sept so that could be one reason for the loss of earnings. I personally lost 15$ as per my earnings report. There are some other hubbers here who lost 60-100$ or more during this maintenance period.

It's encouraging to know that it isn't just me! Thanks for the reassurance, and let's hope that we all get our money back!

That is a misunderstanding of what AdSense maintenance is.  Their system maintenance does not reduce earnings, it might delay reporting but has zero effect on who is visiting your Hubs or clicking on advertisements.

    No that is not right.

Maintenance periods do not affect your adsense earnings. Google records everything, if you got a click, then you have been paid for it.

There is another reason. It might be coincedental, but maintenance periods are NOT it.

There are seasonal factors as well as a heap of other reasons. Definitely not maintenance.

glad the topic was brought up. My balance doesn't seem to add up, either. I had a $110 payout at the end of July. In August, I earned $39 so that was my balance. So far in September, I've made $10 but when I click on "since last payment" my total is $26 instead of $49.

What do you think is the reason?

There was some threads on this yesterday. Quite a few people have noticed a drop in earnings (and we are not talking here about new earnings, we are talking about earnings already reported. When I check mine had gone down by €20 too.
However, later when I looked in Adsense > My Account > Payment History, it was all there. Its just not being reported correctly elsewhere on adsense.

I just went and checked mine.  I checked it just yesterday.  Yesterday, it said my earnings since last payment was $36 and change.  Now it says $24...

How did I loose $12?????  I am more than a little upset, and I hope that the maintenance that they are planning on doing tomorrow fixes this problem.

Maybe they got hacked and that's why they need to do maintenance?  And they just aren't telling us??  I hope we hear something about this...

I don't think that Google's maintenance has any impact on either adsense publishers or adwords advertisers. Only impact of maintenance is that we cannot login and see reports, everything else works as usual.

I've too noticed some changes in earning figures but there seems to be some technical reason behind that. I've also noticed that using channels to can give a wrong idea about our earnings (when our channels overlap).

Google pays an adsense publisher on the basis of advertisement price (ad auction price) at the moment, and as the prices keep on fluctuating (based on ad competition), adsense earnings also fluctuate.

Earnings from same contents, visitors and click is also unstable. Some days make more then others.

Strange, mine are fine and I've never seen this happen to me yet. All my payments are always right to the penny the same as what they show each day.

Sorry others are having problems. hmm

This thread has me "all confused" now (sort of).   lol

I just went to my account and checked for September and "since last payment".  I never check "since last payment" for some reason.  (Maybe I'm just another one whose account has an "issue" or is confusing?)

I guess I've always assumed that "since last payment" included earnings after the 24/25th (whichever day the deposit is made), which would mean there would be 5/6 days of the previous month, added to the present month (from the 1st to whatever day we're in).  Maybe that's why I haven't checked "since last payment"  (Maybe I've checked it here or there, but I've pretty much had increases each month for the last year two, so maybe I wouldn't notice what it would be if there were a drop in earnings, which there was in August.)

So, if you check (as I just did) "this month" you only get earnings from the first of the month.  If you check "since last payment" you get earnings after the last payment (and before the first of the month) AND earnings to the present (assuming you take the earnings every month).

I just went to my account, and "since last earnings" shows a bigger total than "this month/September".

Here's where I'm befuddled:  Every month I just look at "this month", and that's what I receive for a deposit.  If I look at "payment history" I see the deposits for each month, and it all matches up.

I just looked at "since last payment" and it's quite a bit more than "this month/September".  My August earnings were lower than they've been, in last the several months, in August, so is that higher "since last payment" figure just an estimate, subject to "being adjusted"?  In other words, should we not be looking at "since last payment" if we want to know what the next deposit will be?  (And just look at "this month" to get that figure?)   (Or might there be some "issue" - other than lower August earnings than other months in the year?)

(I went to that link Ivorwen posted, but nothing was there; and then I started looking on the Google forum/help (etc.), but you know how that can be when you're looking for something specific...)   hmm

    try this one..

    http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/A … &hl=en

Read further below and I found this :

    Hey folks,

You're all correct that there is a bug in our reporting system that was over-estimating people's earnings on the Estimated Earnings page when you're in the "Since Last Payment" view. I've passed all your feedback to our engineers, and they're fixing the issue as we speak. A fix should be live by the middle of next week, at the latest.

I apologize for the confusion, and know it must be frustrating to have your estimated earnings over estimated like this. Sorry about that.

The workaround for this is simple: check your finalized earnings on the 'Payment History' page and select the 'All Time' view in the drop down menu.

    Chris from Google Adsense

That sounds about right, the estimated earnings are just that, estimates, they are a great guide, and usually accurate, but things such as click fraud and clicks on your own ads will aoften be removed a few days later from your balance.

In this case I guess it was just a technical error though.

Clicks on your own ads?!!!     Absolutely not the case in my case.   smile   I'm paranoid about making good and sure that never happens.  Just about five minutes ago I saw an ad I'd really like to look into, but it was on my Hub.  I was trying to think of how I could find that ad/URL some way other than clicking on it.   hmm    (Of course, now - although, based on that Google help link, and with being fairly certain my account is just part of that problem - you've got me thinking it's probably worth looking at that "since last payment" thing, just to get a reading on whether anyone else has done any fraudulent clicking.  (Live and keep learning - a new thing to be paranoid about.   smile  )
