Most people done understand the differences or are there a difference?
As a believer we are to gather together and Praise and worship our God,
since we are gathering together and discussing The Word of God, the world calls us a religion
A better question is "What if c-a-t spelled dog?"
There is a distinction. Everyone has beliefs (not just about religion, but about themselves, other people, money, how to treat people etc). But not everyone follows a prescribed belief system (religion).
Baileybear, I do not know what kind of churches you have gone to, but the churches I go to A person can state their thoughts about something, you are not asked to follow blindly, If you do not go along with something, you speak up, you are to discuss the Word not just listen and follow
Religion is an ordered set of Beliefs, and practices that make up a way or a direction for following a path to God.
and for those who participate in it, it provides a pre formed set of ideas, rituals, behaviors used for like minded folks to gather and follow along with each other- (support and encouragement togeather), to accomplish the practice of following that path to God. It is nothing more. Unless it is exagarated and abused to become something else or worse..
Religion is not God, God is the end result of Belief.
The practice of how, is the execution of the Path. There is a difference.
If you Believe you choose God, the path is im-material.
A believer is a believer, reguardless. She or He makes a choice
I beleive religion is a method of controlling the minds and actions and money of man.
Jesus Christ established the way of life to the path to GOD and this is LOVE PEACE FREE. Be this and you will know and walk with GOD moment by moment every day for the rest of your life on the earth and throughout all eternity. Just casting this out to you as a freebie. Do with it whatever you want to do with it. This is the answer and your answer to the question. As Jesus said: Don't cast your pearls before swine. Matthew 7:6.

Two relatively similar people are presented with the Bible and the message of Christianity. Person one takes to it eagerly. Person two pushes it as far away as it will go. What is the difference between these two people? Lets add that the two people have identical upbringings, are the same sex,...

bother posting AGAINST beliefs? If the Atheist can "convert" any believer to Atheism, then, they can be compared to evangelists who do it the other way.Any thought?

As a Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Catholic, Jew, Jehovah Witness, etc is your job to convert someone you deem a non-believer? Do you think as a representative of your faith that you are supposed to convert non-believers and all others who do not believe what you think? If so, why? If not, why? Or...

We hear often of atheists claiming that have looked for evidence of God but can find none but what would convince them? How do they go about investigating? How do they expect believers to prove it to them when it can only be proved to oneself and not by another?

It is quite understandable for the rationals to pity the believers for their purported ignorance and obstinate adherence to their religious beliefs. They think they know the truth which may well be the case. What I do not understand is the way they put down the believers as though they were some...

....Why you choose not to believe? And is there a way that it can be done without attacking those who DO choose to do so? I ask because I truly want to understand, not because I want to fight my way into earning a reward for saving your soul. Thanks!
