i am wondering today that some 3-4 of my hubs has been flagged as overly promotional just a few hours ago..i made some changes and submitted for review ..but i do want to know when the overly promotional flag really applies to a hub..i mean each of these flagged 3 hubs have exactly 2-3 links only linking to same domain ...so am i not allowed to place any external links in my hubs???i think it complies with hubpages tos to have a minimum number of links to any external site...

So Jason , can you tell me how many links can i have atmost pointing to any other external site in a single hub making it not an overly promotional hub... i saw some other thread running on this  same topic only, but i could n't find my answer there..can any body of the hubpages team/fellow hubbers clear me of this confusion plzz?? smile

I'm not Jason, but I am a fellow Hubber.

I'd avoid having 3 links to the same domain. 1 to 2 would have you flying under the radar.

But if you link to the same domain over several hubs it might be what gets you flagged.

More and more this type of linking is what is causing hubs to be flagged.

Having just looked at some of your Hubs, I'd say that you might be getting in trouble for promoting links to nude content sites too.

actually i am not promoting links to any nude/adult content, you can check the links for making it sure though, but i just used those words as anchor text because it brings some kinda of traffic from search engines for those heavily searched keywords..

well the reason for promoting that only single domain is i do earn $3-4 daily from hubpages and that site with the traffic it got from my hubs..otherwise there's no point in solely promoting some blog all over my hubs..

HubPages has a policy on "deceptive tagging". I think the onus being on "deceptive".

You're not just trying to deceive people, but search engines. HubPages wants to play by the rules, not circumvent them.

Added to that Google has specific policies on what they expect from their Adsense Publishers.

Not only are there rules that HubPages has to abide by, both written and unwritten by Search Engines and that of its advertising partners, but they've got rules of their own for us to abide by. They don't want overly promotional hubs. So either we try and play the game according to their rules or we find our hubs handicapped by low hubscore or sent to the sidelines.

Well, that's not deceptive tagging, that's deceptive content.  And that sort of thing can get a person's account totally shut down as well.

About 99% of the time users complain about being utterly left in the dark about a flagged Hub, it's because they haven't bothered to read the email we've sent them (or it wasn't sent to them because they've used a fake email address), they haven't consulted the help section, or they haven't looked at the [learn more] notification at the top of the Hub. All three have answers.

    Ramesh, two things:

    1. We've been in contact with you directly via email over the issue of deceptive tagging in the past. You cleaned up a slew of Hubs that were deceptively tagged, so you could not possibly be in the dark about what the problem is, despite ignoring the sources of information I mentioned above. Remember, repeated violations (again, as the email warns) will result in the banning of your account, so be very, very careful.

    2. The email says you're limited to 1-2 links to any one domain (not 3), and you're not allowed any links to copied content from another source. Copying a tract of text from Wikipedia or any other source and then dumping in your links is not allowed. You must provide originally-authored content, and limit your links to a maximum of 2 per domain (not counting cloakers like tinyurl which act as a wildcard)

    - Jason

Isn't it weird? Ramesh doesn't have any hubs or fans anymore... sad

Using explicit sexual keywords and phrases in your Hub text can have that effect on an author.

It's best to always try to publish content so that your site's visitors are pleased that they came to your site.  If someone thinks that they're getting porn when they click on your link and they get anything else, they will be disappointed.  You may get tons of traffic, but they'll click away as quickly as they can.

It seems that Ramesh is all about deception.  I wouldn't trust any link on the site to be what I'm led to believe it is.  In fact, the attractive young lady in the photo, most likely, is not Ramesh.  It's another part of the ploy to try to scam his/hers/it's readers.

Hehe, Ramesh would not have meant to deceiving people that he's the attractive young lady. Because anyone from India knows Ramesh is a male name and some will recognise her as Trisha, a popular actress.

It's like someone who writes about Britney Spears using her photo. Some use an animal's pic, some show a flower; Ramesh is showing a pic of his favourite actress, that's all.

Ramesh, it's best you change the pic to something people won't mistake you for.

LOL Kenny, when I became a fan of Ramesh (long ago), I left the fanmail asking for a hub with her own pics - how silly of me big_smile

I figured out the pic has nothing to do with the person some time later. But that's fine, i laughed at it and moved on - and a lot of people here use celebrities as their avatars, which is fine with me, too.

But I am sort of disappointed Ramesh's hubs are gone - it is something that was here already when I came, and represents one of the facets of Hubpages for me...

Hmmm, I'm about the newest of the HP newbies and I sure knew about only using 1-2 links per domain. It seems a person who had 299 fans, had been here 12 months and written numerous hubs would know that, too.

But then I'm a geek who tends to read (and follow) the TOS.

Ramesh got in trouble more than once for doing something unacceptable in his Hub building.  And I'm pretty sure the straw that broke the camel's back wasn't the number of links in Hubs but for including text that claimed to offer adult content.

All I can say is that if you don''t love the way you look that you're absolutely free to sue your parents for damages. I mean when you yourself don't like your looks then how can you expect to have others fall for you? Not only is it juvenile and idiotic to hide behind someone elses face but also idiotic to assume you will have people climb over each others shoulders to make out with you. If anything it reeks of a deep inferiority complex and insecurity that makes one hide behind the image of someone who is absolutely famous n in demand!!
