What's wrong with the current one?

      Do you use it WL?

They made marked changes to it and now there are many more hoops to go through before getting the information you require.  For several months you could choose the old version (which many hubbers were doing) but now that option has been removed.

AND you have to join up which, from what I can see you need to pay for - not that I mind the $20US but its not as easy.

Just went into it and it's working as normal for me:

        https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/ … earch.none

Google 'keyword tool' and click the first link is how I always get to it. Never pay a cent or forced to sign in.

Too true WL!  Yes I used that link too but now the choices are limited.

Using the old version I was able to get CPC and  the searches to specify "exact" words (or some similar term meaning only that word) but now I can't without subscribing.

I want the old version back!!!!  lol

I can use 'exact'. It's at bottom left. You need to type in a word, first.

And to get CPC, simply click on 'columns' at the top right hand side and tick 'cpc'.

Hmm.  I tried a different route for the information which was advanced search.

OK Thanks WL - I'll try later - have to go now.

The adwords system is what you use to find keywords. Also known as the google keyword tool.

I hate it too. The old version was much more user friendly.

Initially I also wanted the older version back. But now I don't ever want to see the older version.

And, you don't need to pay $20 to join Adwards. You can become a member without even paying the $5 fee which you need to start Ad campaigns.

Wrylilt, she's talking about the AdWords keyword tool....and I'll definitely jump on the bandwagon to say it SUCKS!!  Did you ever use the old interface?  It was so much better (IMO).

Yes, I know you can specify the columns and exact vs broad but it is not as user friendly as the old interface was and does not give you the results the same way - I'm trying desperately to get used to it because I have to, but I hate it.

Do you need to join at all?  I do have an Adwords account, but I never bother logging in to use the Keyword tool, just put in the captcha and go.

Same here - never need to login or pay.

And I can access all the statistics including broad, phrase and exact. Plus CPC, monthly and global searches.

I never sign in to my adwords account while using the tool.

I think the new version is pretty nice. I hated it in the beginning but eventually I got used to it and I hardly went back to the old tool in the past two months.

I checked the old tool a almost a month back and it gave some very different results than the new tool. It gave very different search volume from the new one. I think this new keyword tool is a lot more accurate than the old one.

OK everyone...I have egg on my face!

As WL said you can use the relevance buttons and doing it that way I get the information I require.  I'd been using the advanced search and I couldn't get the info I required unless I joined which was my gripe.  I'm now a happy user!

    Thanks for your comments

There are disparities re search volumes between the old and new interface. Someone already pointed this out elsewhere in the forum, though I forget who. Now Google only displays their own search volume - they no longer display data from other SE's.

In that sense it makes k/word research more limited. Like many, I receive hits from different SE's, and not knowing the collective volume alters my perspective.

Anyway - that's progress for you. Sometimes it doesn't seem as innovative as you'd expect or would like hmm
