Why isn't this forum moderated?

I am disappointed with the lack of respect for one another shown in the Religion & Beliefs topic.
I would like to have a somewhat professional environment to echo the professional intent of this site.

actually the forums are moderated.  it's just that hubpages only has a staff of eight members versus the 1000's of writers who participate on here daily.  Therefore, they can't always be everywhere to assist everyone in forums.  However, if you do see any kind of abuse in forums of any kind, you can always report them, and it'll alert the staff to take a look into the matter.

Just click on the report button of the person you see abusing a hubber, then once you do that, you can select why your reporting them.  It ranges from personal attacks to like spam messages.  Of course they even give you a little box to type in any details you want to add.  Anyways, I hope this helps.  Try to take in mind though that some hubbers on here tend to get carried away; especially when talking about controversial issues such as these.  Therefore, a lot of them mean well, but sometimes they'll go a bit over board.  Just to give you a heads up.

Anyways, I hope I didn't frighten you off.  Welcome to hubpages. smile

1000s of writers, wow, I find this forum moderate enough.

To me it’s more dangerous not knowing, all the different types, and their different ways of thinking out there. The odd time, it can get a little verbalily messy, but that’s growing pains for you.

well a 1000 writers is really just a random number I threw out, as there could be more or less.  The point was that there's only like so many staff members to moderate forums, that they can't be everywhere.

That's why if you see abuse happening, then it's important you report it right away on the post, by hitting the report button.  Once you do, then you report the alleged abuser to hubpages staff, where they'll review the post and make a decision from there.

As for your other concern, it is scary because you don't always know who's watching you in forums, or what everyone's intentions are, but that's the risk you take when you enter forums.  Sure, you gain a lot of followers rapidly, due to exposure, but if your not careful, then you can sometimes find yourself crossing paths with a hubber that might not like you if you say the wrong thing, even if it's an accident.

The best advice I can give you is this.  Don't take anything that's said in forums too seriously, and you should do fine.  Another thing to remember if you do decide to debate with a hubber over a controversial subject, then try to remain calm throughout the process and not take whatever they say personal.  Some hubbers have a style where they'll insult you to try to get you mad, so you'll look irrational and lose the debate.  It happens a lot more than you think.  That's why it's best not to take forums seriously, as I usually view it as a place to have fun and talk to random folks about whatever I want.  lol.  As a good friend of mine named Tantrum once said, forums are to have fun in, not to get caught up in petty crap.  lol.  Anyways, I hope i didn't scare you away from forums, as it can be a wonderful place to meet other writers and get tips on how to improve your own style as well.  Anyways, welcome to hubpages by the way. smile
