I have studied this man more than any other person in history?
Your guess is as good as mine?

Interesting. As you have studied him so extensively - would you mind providing me with a dozen or so contemporary references to him please? I have been unable to find any.

        that's what i said /that's what i meant

I have studied this man more than any other person in history?
this is what i said/this does not mean that i am in any way highly educated
        sorry for giving that impression

        good up front challenge mark
to be honest i take the new testament and the acts of the apostles in the bible
i visualise the incidents/think and re think
what would you call this self thought?
i like famous peoples lives ie St Patrick /St Francis etc and i again re think their motives and lives
i've tried to answer your question honestly now what about having a go at the question at the top of the page?

So - you have read the bible then? Reflecting on the contents of the bible is not something I would consider to be "studying the man."

Jesus the person did not exist. It is a construct to allow you to explore your psyche and improve yourself. Accepting Jesus Christ as your savior allows you to become Christ-like if you so wish and are prepared to be born again.

Thinking of Jesus as an actual person who did something for you is a mistake and has been the root cause of many conflicts because you miss the point entirely which is that - You need to do the work. Most self-professed Christians take the easy peasy "I am OK Jack," option and never even understand what they are supposed to be following, and certainly do not actually become born again - they just say the words. One of our fellow hubbers has written an excellent explanation here:

            hi Mark
are we talking about the same Jesus
the guy i'm talking about lived about 2000yrs ago near Jerusalem
he said be like a  child if you want to come to me
what jesus are you talking about
            sorry for the misunderstanding here

Dismissing my opinion in that fashion after you specifically asked me for it is downright rude. sad

            that 's what you said

the new testament was the closest to a contemporary reference i would find
            sorry

then you say    you need to do the work

are you trying to put barbed wire around this man to stop us from having a look/ are you some sort of riot police/maybe even a roman?

            jesus said something like this

Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.
            Luke 11:52

I am trying to show you the path he opened for you. You are the one who is choosing not to enter by not doing any work.

Yes - I agree there are no contemporary references to this man. So - you have "studied the man," through twelfth hand accounts written by people with a vested interest in showing you the wrong path. Which is why you are now accusing me of being a roman while reading the Roman's  book. Ironic.

      From a Christian prospective ...
It is said that God  IS  the beginning and IS  the end;  which says that he is not bound by time as we understand it.

Which would mean that he is a time traveler if and when he so chose to be.

If we believe that God  IS  Alpha and  IS  Omega?
What other answer could be possible to the question than YES.

Such a simple answer and yet this answer opens up an unlimited variety of possibilities.??

SOMETIMES  yesterdays truths become todays so called myths
                           AND.............

SOMETIMES   todays fantacy becomes tomorrows experiences.
So truth as everyone precieves it, depends entirely upon which time and space we find ourself in.

Yes, for example, we find many of the myths and superstitions embraced by believers long ago are still embraced by believers today. Seems, it depends more on thinking and understanding than time and space. smile

As in your statement above,   You do not see where you group all believers in the same basket?    If I believed that I would think  ...  So Sad.

His statement was not an attack on you personally. It was an attack on your behavior/actions. He is describing, what your actions/behavior appears to him as- one tracked mind.

If you find it an insult, then he must have been speaking the truth.

Jesus was a man ahead of his time, who was murdered/executed, for what today is no crime, due to rights of free speech.

Blasphemy? It's absurd. It's absurd because there is no god to blasphemy against.

Jesus' teachings were not religious, as far as aspects of a god. His teachings were in metaphoric parables, which he used to code his teachings to appear as religion, so he would be able to do his work. If it was found that Jesus was not teaching only religion to his followers, but something else, then it could threaten all ruler-ship of all lands, because chaos would ensue.

Jesus was most certainly a man ahead of his time. His understanding of How to live life? Could be universal for peace, but the continuation of the OT must die for that to happen.

Those who studied religion, some use it for their own benefit, corrupt Jesus' original message, which was derived from Love, Compassion and Mercy. Love thyself and others- Have compassion and mercy for those who do not know how. His work teachings of the God within- YOU as the individual to be God in your own life, through self mastery- control thoughts and actions.

That's my take on it from studying on said topic. smile

Edit: There is no god. The OT is the false god Jesus specifically warned his followers about. It's amazing people still think "God" is external, when Jesus claimed "God within".

you have good points here i think
you have placed jesus in an historical context which makes him real
beelzedad needs to get his logical head around this and bring some good stuff to the table
maybe he thinks that the past  is not real /i don't know
      he can talk for himself/

the idea that Jesus is not really teaching the people religion at all is very interesting
he uses the mantle of religous instruction to avoid the accucation of subversion/ good idea
it would explain how the romans ignore him as just another jew talking at the street corner about their gods
it would explain the hostility he received constantly from the established jewish church of the time/they made it their mission to catch him out
