   I think I was premature to brag about my score at 80. I'm down to 75 now!
   
   I've only made two hubs - so I'm duly chastened!
   
   As long as it doesn't reach my age - then I will really worry!

      i think you have to get busy commenting on other hubs, I don't know how the score works and pay little mind to it, but I'm sure that will bring more traffic and when you comment on other people's hubs they will comment on yours or become a fan. I think that's what raises the score the easy way.

         Yeah, Toads score is based solely on participation not content and look at his score!

               Like, Elena said and Toad.  DO NOT worry about your score...toad's advice about getting involved is excellent.  Go read ALL of my Hubs RIGHT NOW!!!  Then look at the comments to see the perfect example of participation...Also Join MY FAN CLUB RIGHT NOW and leave edifying comment for me, or else I will take a bath with this toaster oven...DO IT!  And have fun!

   Bard, I think Goldentoad is right, I think being "active", one way or another via comments or forums, raises the score.  I mean, you need to put something out there and get traffic, but that alone doesn't do it.  Seems to be that way, anyway, for what it's worth.

   Thanks for the replies. I could be more active on the forums, which would presumably increase my score, but how does that impact overall on my hubs?
   
   Should I be concerned about the score? How significant is it in relation to my presence here, and on the exposure of my hubs?
   
   It's great to get fans. It's great to get comments, but how does that reflect the wider exposure of my work?
   
   This is probably a question answered in the faqs, but there would be no banter if I went there!

   Bard, the hubscore is one of the most puzzling, wondered about topics in all of Hubpages   I'd tell you:  Do not even try to figure it out, just take it as it comes and do not be too worried about it, just be concerned with putting good content out there.  If you do that, you'll build up an audience and exposure to your work. It'll take your score up, too, but like I said, don't try and figure out how or why, or you'll get bonkers!

   My score fluctuates between 89 and 94. I have been trying to understand it... well trying..
   
   If it is at 89 and I post comments or someone becomes my fan or posts  a comment at my hubs, my score moves up again. And if there is no activity, it comes down again. And see toad also has published only 4 hubs but you will find him interacting with everyone . People love him and hence his fanbase and hubscore.
   
   In the beginning you will have to interact with people so that they may know you, visit your work and give feedback. For this, you will have post comments (meaningful ones, not the formality sakes) and banter on the forums among other things.

   Bard, I agree with Elena and goldentoad.   In addition, when you respond to the comments made on your Hubs, those Hubbers you acknowledged are more likely to become your fans and read your new Hubs.

   I like this vibrant community - and the eclectic replies to my post. I feel a bit of a fraud having only two hubs to my name, and talking about Hubscores.
   
   The truth is that those Hubs were previously Squidoo lenses. I removed them and rebuilt them lock stock and barrel here. I was truly astonished by the reception they received. I admit it was an innocent experiment, but designed to compare.
   
   I was amazed by the welcome, and the confident nature of Hubbers. A stark contrast to the often self-aggrandising behaviour of SquidU posters - something I would often take issue with.

      Although I have only seen it referenced it in the forums so may be a rumor..but a HubScore of less than 75 results in your hub links becoming nofollow...which would supposedly help fight Spam hubs,
      
      Just mynahing something I read here, but should you be using your Hubs for backlink purposes to other sites including possibly Squidoo, then the HUbScore would matter
      
      ..i must admit I get a little bothered when mine drops below 90
