I was excited at the thought of Colin running under the Republican ticket. However he let me down hard with his endorsment of Obama. I would place him ahead of the pack(for my vote) if he would run, under any ticket.

I agree with the first two sentences.
        Not the last one.
He's too wishy-washy and his (former) sense of patriotism plus his integrity jumped out the window when he lied about his voting intentions during the Campaign.

He used the term "Historical". I can't argue with that. The election of a non white as President was indeed historical. So the fact that he supported the candidacy of Obama doesn't bother me. What I find more important is his silence since the election.

    I want this one.

The Obama administration released a strategy Tuesday to end homelessness by expanding programs to secure housing for veterans and families with young children and by building on efforts to help chronically homeless people."

This is the pres I want. Why don't we give him a chance before you pick his succesor?

Colin's okay, but I prefer a more dynamic personality.

      Romney?

There's seems to be a large group of Christians who don't like Romney because he's a Mormon.  An illogical, stupid and shameful reason.

          I agree.

    Agreed, Flightkeeper.
Romney could be the most qualified candidate but some people judge him exclusively by his religion. Which many people do not understand and assume he is a polygamist.
    Very sad.

Powell is being quite cagey. Keeping it close to the vest.
I read somewhere recently that General Petraeus may be a GOP candidate. I wonder if Powell would endorse him?

Petraeus knows better than to go into the the most senseless war zone known as US politics.

    You're probably right.
Even if Petraeus has had his eye on the POTUS position for years (no indication of this), I don't think now is a time in American history when we would choose a military leader as POTUS.
Unless the situation does a 180, the top quality Americans will be looking for in 2012 is ability to lead the country FINANCIALLY, not militarily....

I really think Gov. Bobby Jindal would make a great POTUS. He is smart, has executive experience and just seems like a decent enough guy. However, I don't think he will get that nomination.

    Today's poll numbers favor Romney

Mitt Romney slightly ahead of potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates: Poll

    2011-01-25 16:00:00

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is slightly ahead of his potential Republican 2012 presidential contenders, according to a new poll.

Politico quoted the Rasmussen survey as saying that Romney enjoys 24 percent support of American voters closely followed by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin with 19 percent, and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee with 17 percent support.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich trails the front-runners with 11 percent of likely Republican voters backing him, the poll said.

Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has managed to earn 6 percent support, while Texas Representative Ron Paul got 4 percent.

Earlier, Romney was also placed first in a straw poll of New Hampshire Republican Party officials. He had won with 35 percent of the total vote, beating second-place finisher Ron Paul, R-Texas, by 24 points. (ANI)

I live in MA so Romney isn't that bad. Despite being Republican he was pretty balanced.

I also like Huckabee for the most part.

And I wrote a song about Palin, that says how I feel about her. We won't go there.

Newt is as Newt does. I say no to Newt.

I like Ron Paul but I think he is a little to extreme to be President. His son is a tool.

I like Colin Powell he would be a good contender.
