So, I read magazines, go online and go shopping quite a lot, but staying in fashion is VERY expensive... I know this is a bit impossible to have both, but how do I keep fashionable whilst keeping the spending costs low?

I think today's fashions are so versatile that you are never really out of fashion... designers make such amazing clothes now that I hate for the designs to be hidden away in a wardrobe because they are not fashionable.. fashion is now so beautiful nothing is ever out of date. Dress for your self and you will create your very own style and feel happy all of the time !!!

Bluefly is the greatest discount fashion site. And they have great sales. J.Crew's  site also has great sales and they have fashion-forward and classic styles. TopShop, Zara and H&M have the latest trends but be prepared--not the greatest quality.

The really stylish do not follow trends they are the ones who are original enough to start them. However in the UK many prefer to follow a watered down version of a trend set by a celebrity.

There are ways of dressing that do not require a complete change of wardrobe contents each season. This will probably become more popular as the price of new clothes increases.

You always can change bags, belts and other accessories, like bracelets, rings etc. They don't have to be expensive, just fashionable. With colors complimenting existing wardrobe you are going to look great even if your dress, pants, shirt are not of a latest fashion. Just buy them in more classic style, that will last and is not going to look too old fashioned tomorrow with right accessories. That's the trick.

just develop your own personal style and keep developing it, and don't worry what those fashioneestas are dictating!  keeping up with "fashion" is just another excuse to shop!

honestly keeping up with fashion is out of style basics are always in and being unique and putting your clothing together wisely and fashionable is key, or get another job to fund keeping in style but instead of being a folwer be you!!

I agree with the above, don't be a dedicate follower of fashion - dress in your own style that suits your body shape. This works for men and women.  Find timeless fashion that suits your skin, mood and personality.

My wife is French, and she can out-dress anybody, but never buys anything that is fashion, yet everybody compliments on her clothes and how sexy and thin they make her look.  Her secret is that she has what is called a ancient wardrobe, which is full of clothes that suit her and body shape etc.  The right clothes can make you look a dress size smaller.

The answer for me is "I don't".  I couldn't possibly afford it, even if I wanted to.  However, I do read fashion magazines so that I know vaguely what's in style and can follow those few trends that actually suit me and (just as importantly) my lifestyle.

I agree with the porn star shoes comment on http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/66231#post1456912, btw lol
