adding lincs to your articles

   I don't understand why the lincs are sometimes nonsensical and not related to the article. For instance in an article about animals the only linc suggestion I got was on the word SYNC, which was incidental and not relevant to the hub I was writing.
   
   I was trying to linc a lot to all my articles and then realized that it was just messing up my work with lincs going to non relevant places. I went back and removed a lot of lincs and my hub score went way down.
   
   I don't get it.

      Links within hubpages are obviously going to be encouraged by HP - as Sunforged pointed out elsewhere we are (also) a captive audience and sold to advertisers as such - so internal linking - hubhopping - following are as much about slaes for HP as anything else.  I happen to think that internal linking justs takes a reader off your article and onto someone else's and so never use them - except to my own hubs.

      It's because it's an automated system. I suspect it uses the tags to choose related Hubs, and some Hubbers use tags badly so their Hubs will show up in strange places.
      
      The tool is only meant to give suggestions and you're supposed to be very selective in accepting them.  You don't want a Hub sprinkled with blue links, it's annoying to the reader!
      
      BTW the tag system has a similar problem - it suggests words based on your text, and will often pick up words that are too general or not relevant enough.  HubPages will use your tags to list your Hub in searches, and for the Suggested Links feature, so choose your tags carefully and make sure they are relevant to your subject.

      I guess the basic idea is to get hub pages linked.  But I do agree, some suggestions are not really related.  Just another area for improvement for the people behind HP.  I think the more links that you have increases your hub score.  But the quality of the links must be considered.. 
      
      I usually write because I want to write.  Many times I don't even care about keywords.  that's the world of SEO.  Sometimes I like it back then when I don't have to worry about popularity, scores and just write.

         Not really - like I said, the problem is people using poorly chosen tags, because those are used to create the suggestions.
         
         The other problem is people not reading the instructions, because the suggestions ARE only suggestions, and you're meant to check each one and only use the best ones.

   I would ignore the links if they don't fit. I rarely use the suggested links and when I do I usually link to my own.

   In my opinion, the Suggested Links feature is buggy enough to avoid. You want to achieve the same effect, however, and this will work far better:
   
   Open HP in a separate browser window so that you can toggle back and forth between it and your hub. Then perform searches there to find relevant hubs. You can type in whatever you want without having to limit yourself to the exact word string that was in your hub, etc.
   
   Then simply copy that link over to your hub. It won't work in the same "mode" where Suggested Links works. I do it in my word processor before pasting into capsules. It would work inside a text capsule in edit mode also.

   I am very annoyed at the way many authors are using that tool (presumably) to pepper text with what might spread HubLuv. When I hover over a link, I can read the url in my browser window and tell that the article has only a single homonym or something completely irrelevant. It is very disrespectful of the reader to send them on some wild goose chase because you're too lazy. I read a hub just yesterday about how to copy edit and why it was essential to have a copy editor keep you from embarrassing mistakes. Out of a dozen or so links, the only relevant ones were to her own copy editing service!

      Agreed. I refuse to use the link suggestion tool - I'd rather have my traffic exit through adverts or internal links that have my trackers so I can still earn some money.
