Soldiers Wives Were Crying Friday

My neighbor, an Army wife who works at the Army base, said that women were crying on Friday because of the imminent shut down.  One friend of mine, an officer who has access to payroll information, looked at his paycheck and saw it was half of normal, funded only through the 8th.  It is back to normal now.

I think it is unconscionable for the Democrats to threaten soldiers and their families in order to force their political will.

I hope Bachman's proposed legislation to prevent soldiers from being used as political footballs in budget negotiations receives bipartisan support.  It is absolutely sickening to see these young people who are stretched thin on all fronts being abused by politicians.

You sorta made a jump claiming democrats threatened anyone.

The shutdown was the threat of the tea party. Not the democrats.

The only people I heard saying it was better to shut down the government than compromise were Republicans/Tea Partiers.

In any case, it is absolutely sickening to see you use soldiers and their wives as emotional tools in your simplistic and faulty argument.

My conservative friends were appalled at the Republicans' attempt to hold the budget hostage over funding for Planned Parenthood.  Why weren't you?

"the measure - which also includes billions more in budget cuts and a ban on publicly funded abortions in the District of Columbia"

Yeah, and if Republicans were sincere about helping soldiers and their wives, they would have put forth a stand-alone resolution without the other controversial cuts.
