So often I have seen posts on here, where the hubber has posted a link on which it is possible to click, and to be taken to another site. I have no idea how to do this. There are some Youtube videos, which I would like to link to, to share on here. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
For what purpose?
You're not allowed to post any links on the forums which promote your own work in any way.
But it would not be to promote any work of mine. I have nothing on Youtube, and would not even know how to upload anything onto Youtube. I would like to write a hub about my favourite pieces of classical music, and thought linking to the pieces on Youtube would enable other people to listen to the music. I have seen other people do this kind of thing.
Sorry, you said "posts on here" so I thought you meant on the forums.
There is a Youtube capsule you can add to your Hub, just paste in the URL of the clip.
Hey Marisa,
Are you forgetting something?
We are allowed to post links on the forums. I do it all the time. When the topic of the discussion is on something I have written, it is much easier to post the link, putting a side note that it is not for self promotion, but is related to the topic at hand.
I am very careful about posting links in the forum. Most of the time, I'll tell someone I have a hub written on the topic and they will request I post a link, because they don't feel link going through my 100 hubs to find it, even after I've given them the title. I had that incident the other day with Earnest.
Not to mention, people are forever posting links, not necessarily to their own stuff, but to YouTube videos or other videos, which are tied to the topic at hand.
Call me cynical! I misread the OP. I can see why people post links in the forums in response to a discussion, but I thought he was suggesting posting new threads to share clips - and I was immediately suspicious that there was a hidden agenda. Turns out he was talking about Hubs.
Hi,
I may have this wrong, but you can post links to sites of interest, videos and anything you are not directly involved in (like another hub you have else where).
You do it by writing the name and clicking on the little chain-link symbol. You then enter the URL and when someone clicks that link-word, it will take them to the URL. This is also a nice way to link in your/other hubs if you don't want to use the full title ...
If you want to put a link within your hub, highlight the word(s) you want to put the link on and click on the chain symbol in the capsule's tool bar. A box will pop up for you to copy a url into. Follow the steps in the box and finish that capsule.
You can also add a links capsule by selecting it from the options in the upper right hand corner of the hub you are making. There is also and video capsule you can choose. These capsules will come up at the bottom of your hub and you can use their tool bars to fill them and place them in your hub as you wish. You can experiment with them, and even delete them and start over as you are learning to use them.
Hope this is helpful to you. If this explanation is not worded the best way I hope a more experienced hubber will add their input.
When you are creating your hub or editing it has a table off to the top right hand side and it has text photos rss feed video link poll and so forth well you click on the link button and it will add the capsule you click edit the capsule and paste the link you want to add to your hub it will have a little silver button on the right side that says add link click on it and it will add the link to your hub. save it and publish your hub hope that helps!!

If you are talking about a link in the forums: You can look at the "Formatting" at the bottom right corner of the box you type your text in when posting and find examples of how.
To add a video in your hub you can add the link url or the embed code to the video capsule. Make sure the site the link is from is on the HP list of accepted videos.
As far as links to your hub in forums...you can show a link in the Hub makeover category to request other hubbers to critique a hub. You cannot post links to your hubs in other areas to promote them.
Hope this helps.

I know that hubpages is strict about violations and copyright but is it a violation to post a youtube video in your hub, which you know includes copyrighted material, which the one uploading the video did not have permission to upload? Like a movie clip or a song lyrics video. I know the internet...

I know it's been asked before. I've even asked it before. But is there a better and easier way to bring in links to a link capsule from another hub. It'd make linking series so much easier. I spent about 2 hours yesterday linking an old series that I have together. It included about 20 or so hubs...

I know there is a rule about "self promotion in the forums."I just want to clarify what it means. Does it mean there is a blanket ban on all links in our own posts that link to any hub we've written or site or article we own?ORAre we allowed to post our own hub links if relevant to the...

It is important to actually read the hub you are commenting on. It seems that every time I publish a hub I get at least one comment saying something that proves they didn't read the hub. In the future I will be deleting these comments even though they are well intentioned. It will better for your...
