I came across a site today that asked this question and it really made me think. I was wondering how my fellow hubbers would feel about this.
If you want to see it for yourself, the link is http://www.squidoo.com/birth-control-at-fourteen
(p.s. this site is in no way associated with me... I just thought it was an awesome article...I don't want anyone to think I'm bending the rules here)
If I had it to do over again with the same daughter.. YES YES YES....
Well I hope for both your sakes that it wasn't a teen pregnancy. See my daughter is only three and I know that one day I'll have to face this. I just figured it's a thought provoking question.
I would put my daughter on birth control at 14 if I felt that she was thinking about becoming sexually active at 14... I would much rather have a 14 year old taking birth control, than a 14 year old taking her infant to the doctor, rather than taking midterms.
I whole-heartedly agree. That's why I think it's such a good question to address
It is a great discussion question... I have heard a mother say, Never would she put her child on birth control, it is like telling them to go have sex-and what will people say about her if they knew/ what would they say about a mother allowing her daughter to take the pill at such a young age?... My response to her was,
i dont know about you, but my mother told me and didnt tell me a whole lot while I was growing up...when it came down to it, I did what I wanted to do- and never asked for an okay from her, and what will people say? Ummm? Who the heck cares what people say- your a mother, you should take part in parenting and protect your daughter from certain things in this life. If you are really worried about what others say- I am sure they will say a whole lot more if she becomes a mother at 14...
I have never been a person to say anything about the way others parent- but this woman made me mad... i almost saw it as if she was purposefully wanting to wear a blindfold, and in doing so was putting her child in a perfect situation to really alter/hurt her life, opportunities and future forever, because she was worried what others would say about the 'PILL'... So stupid if you ask me...
Blindfolding is what so many people want to do and in this day and age it is proving impossible to do that. Great post, I completely agree
Daughter...I don't think a boyfriend has the right to put their 14 yr old girlfriend on the pill
Hate to say it, but in this day and age, 14 is probably a "late bloomer" to be thinking about engaging in sex.
I remember a documentary about middle schoolers and how sexually active they were.
So at the rate we're going as a society, before you know it we'll have kindergardners on the pill.
Mydniterose, have you had "the talk" with your three-year-old daughter yet?
lol... not yet, but to be honest she is precocious and already asks questions sometimes that I'm not ready to answer. Tonight she wanted me to explain why she doesn't look like a boy when she is naked! The things kids ask!!! I agree that 14 is probably a late bloomer in today's age. I just thought this article made a good point and her example was 14!

How reasonable is it to put your child on birth control pills at 14 years of age?Kim Kardashian’s matriarch put her on birth control pills at the age of 14 years.

I read this was true and I just have to know if it is, please! Please provide links to prove what you say. Surely we are not going to be aborting babies ready to come into the world fully developed and healthy?

Do you believe that abortion is murder or is it just a choice?

If your 17 year old daughter had sex and had a pregnacy scare, should the mother punish her?The mother had sex at 17 also, but the mother got pregnant. And the mother says she does not hate her daughter, but says she is on her "shit list"

Should we put a cap on how many children per family is allowed? This could be decided by earnings, or perhaps religion political views maybe.
