old low scoring hubs, should you just delete them

   Just a quick question, when I first started here and was finding my way around, I answered some requests.  Those hubs were really hublets as the questions were quite random and I didn't know enough about hubpages then to give a good long-winded answer.  Those hubs didn't get many views and have quite low hubscores.  If I delete them, would that improve my hubscore?  Is there any point in keeping them?

      all I know is with my old profile as soon as I did delete the old ones my score went to 100

   Improve them. That's what I did They still aren't scoring brilliantly, but it was worth it for my self-esteem.

      Good answer,EM! I still do that once in a while, regardless of how they're scoring. I'm no expert, but I've been told that google really likes it when your content is updated periodically.

   I have some old hubs (ok four months isn't old) I wrote when I really didn't know what I was doing.  The thought was there but the setup and the writing was horrible.  They scored very low.  I redit them and the score went up, as did my author score.  And the traffic went up.
   
   I keep adding and editing and they keep going up.
   
   You already put the thought there, that is no small task.  Don't let that work go to waste.  Spend some time and you will like the returns.

   Okay, just the time thing I guess, especially with this challenge coming up!  I guess I can jazz them up.  Do they reappear in hubtivity once they've been jazzed up?  How will people know I've edited them?

   I think it is never ever a good idea to delete stuff you started to write, as it seems like a waste, it is better to research in depth for that particular hubpage topic and improve every aspect about it.
   
   Make it so that they are more useful and for the readers who could find them and also make your low scoring hubpages link worthy in some way, although this is a taxing process what with time slipping away from us all.
   
   Going back to a low scoring hub with fresh eyes and thoughts another day can be the best thing for it!

   I have to agree with Wayne, sort of. I never ever throw away or delete anything I write. I keep a copy of everything. Seems hard to let it go I guess. I would say try whay EM said and update and edit them. or maybe try the unpublishing thing.

    Yeah BP, below 60 actually, but it's great to keep them above 70.  What is the average score for a hub?  How do you know if it's an okay hub?

       thanks Cindy I have not got any below 70. Touch wood...It is amazing though I published 2 hubs on the weekend, one of them has had 1000 views in 2 days yet my score has gone done LMAO

    I have a few very low hubs that have great content, its just there is so much competition for them that all the users are taken up before they read mine. All I can do it basically, all the views I have are direct connects from links etc... sigh.

    Great forum. I was thinking about trashing a few of my low scoring hubs, hubs with no recent visits, but maybe I'll rewrite instead.However, if it was a dumb concept to begin with, was wondering if the score drops when you delete.

    My hub scores have been all over the place. I have seen hubs go from 60 to 80 back down in the 70s, and then shoot up in the 90's, and then down in the 50's. Every time I check them, they either went back up or down. Your lowest scoring hub one week could be one of your top scoring hubs the next week.
    
    One of my recent hubs started at 45, went down to 42, and then shot way up to 83, and is my hottest hub as of right now. It gets 4 times the amount of traffic than all of my other hubs.
    
    My lowest hub right now is one I just created. I'm going to wait awhile and see how that one performs over time. I honestly believe that both my hottest hub and the one I just wrote will go on a roller coaster ride just like the rest of them.
    
    Personally, I agree with re-writing low scoring hubs. I would think a low score would be 20 or below, 30 possibly.  If a particular hub continually stays below 20 over time no matter what you do to it, then it would be time to delete it.

    Some hubs attract more seasonal interest than others. Several of my hubs are in the 60s consistently but I won't delete them. Guess I'm stubborn but I agree that deleting is too extreme.

       Agreed, I have already started some xmas hubs! even worse than that... I have wrote a 'how to make pancakes' hub, just in time for shrove tuesday (which is 8 or 9 months away!)

    I have seen many hubs go way down (50s) then bounce up to 89 or so. I try to improve my old hubs, but wonder what the low scoring ones do to my profile score.

    I would say no. One of my best for organic traffic is a low scoring hub. Same for hubs with low traffic, a hub which gets 1 page view per day could easily earn you more over a year than a hub which gets 20 views per day if the topic is in high demand. You just never know.

    Why don't you improve the content.  I have some that are good content but just get ZERO traffic - my one on Mark Brunell is a good example - all my NFL greats do ok but his gets zero!
    
    Those ones you can zap into a more lively state by re-keywording them.  Choose another keyword with less competition and adjust and optimise the hub for the new keyword.  Hard in the case of MB but I'm working on it!
