Can humans ever cope with our mortality as a whole?

If religion or belief in a higher power didn't exist, how would life be different?

I think people would appreciate their lives a lot more and a world without "God" hanging over us would probably lead to happier people.

But we can't deny that religion really does help some people.

But my main question is, can humans cope with mortality as a whole? Can the entire world function with the belief that when we die there is nothing else for us?

Honestly, Religion just seems like a way to deal with our "innate" fear of death and has been corrupted by men over the ages.

    Hmmmm
not a fun question per the usual responses by some but

I feel our hearts , all our hearts, question the existence of God at some point in our lives. That alone makes me believe we were created for God with our hearts for Him.

    Hmmm

If that makes any sense. If not. move on. thx big_smile

Worms cope very well with human mortality.  I guess we can too.

I believe that caskets should be made from worm food. That way we get more worms per human fatality, and as we all die, that is a shipload of worm food.

More worms is are good strategy.

More worms create better soil, more food for the living.

You mean the caskets should be made of human flesh?

OK that sounds a bit too gross for me. lol

I was thinking more along the lines of pre-formed boxes made from dried vegetation.

              Thank you!

The new Honda Clarity auto uses all vegetable fibre in it's beautiful long lasting interior, so we are even learning to conserve while still alive! lol

                There's hope for us yet!

I keep hope because of all the good people on the planet who are determined to save it. Some go overboard, but overboard is a bit hard to measure when we are already under water. smile
The seas are rising, the data is in, we know man made emissions are tipping us over the top.

Climate change deniers will go the same way as the religiously impaired, but they will go down screaming without ever examining the data! lol

I am going to have to disagree with you Rabgix.

We need only look at man's history of the past.  The Egyptians had Gods but they were Gods of prosperity and generations died in bondage.

The Roman's didn't care anything about Gods and death in the arena was nothing but entertainment for these people.

History has shown mankind really has a problem with putting limits on ourselves and so that's why we suffer with White slavery, drug addictions, hate and the rest.
