Adsense Changes?

   Hi Everyone
   
   Has anyone noticed any changes in their Adsense earning this month? Last month, my Page CTR was <snipped> and my Page eCPM was <snipped>. This month I've published 5 new hubs for a total of 56 hubs, and my traffic is approximately the same. And yet in contrast, this month my Page CTR is <snipped> and my eCPM is <snipped>. I've been at Hubpages since Sept 08. Typically, I have made 2+ on an average month and 8 on my best month. This month I have only made 11 cents. I thought my earnings were dismal before, but this is unreal.

   You might want to delete that posting as mentioning CTR and eCPM is against Adsense's terms and will get your account closed.

            In the bottom right hand corner of your original post you shoudl have the following buttons:
            
                * quote/reply
                * report
                * permalink
                * edit
                * delete
            
            The delete button is the right most of these buttons.
            
            Hope that helps.  If not send a message to hubpages.

               Thank you. There is not delete button. The delete button must only be an option for a limited amount of time after you publish your post.

   The reason for low CTR/eCPM might be:
   1. ads became irrelevant;
   2. high-paying ads gone. It happens, especially if your hubs cover a bunch of specific topics.
   
   I've seen some drop in CTR/eCPM stats at the end of April, now everything is back to normal.

   I've also dropped. However, my ads appear to remain relevant. My husband has also checked from work and he's seeing the same ads that I am, so it appears to be working out that way for me.
   
   I personally don't like this change though. A person who has spent the day looking for information about dolphins might suddenly become interested in learning something about, for example, how to prevent divorce and stumbles upon some of my hubs about marriage. If the ads relate to dolphins, and the visitor is essentially "done" researching dolphins, I'm not going to get clicks.
   
   I don't like it, personally.

      You've lost me, Everyday. Are you saying that if someone starts out on a Hub on one topic, then they click on a Hub on another topic, the ads "follow" from the first Hub, instead of changing to be relevant to the new Hub?
      
      I've never heard of that happening.  Anyone else find that? 
      
      I've just had my best month ever on Adsense, BTW.

   Not exactly what I'm saying Marisa, but you've got the gist of it.
   
   Maybe I don't understand the change, but I thought that Google was tracking people's browsing and was serving ads based on the browsing habits of the individual. So basically, ads aren't being served based on page content.
   
   I've only been here a month, but the last two weeks have been dismal where the first two were pretty darned good, all things considered (i.e. my newness here).

   Everyday - I don't think what you talk about (Google interest-based advertising) has been implemented yet.  HubPages have recently added more AdSense ads to Hubs which seems to have changed my stats.  I get more impressions but a lower CPR.  The earnings themselves have never been better(like Marisa).
   
   I think you are doing well as you have just started.  I earned around $10 in my first month but it nosedived to a few cents 4 months in.  In my experience it takes around 6 months before you hit a steadily increasing income stream but it does get better, I promise!

   Why do you think posting your CTR etc. will get you banned from Adsense?  Because Google does not want people sharing how crappy they are doing.

      After Bristolboy warned me, I went to Adsense. It does say that posting your CTR and eCPM is against TOS, but Hubpages has not responded to my email yet about removing the post. Yes, I imagine you are correct, they probably don't want people to know how others are doing. All I know is my earnings are not great, and I even bought Microniche Finder to try to improve my traffic.

    I had a $3.10 click from one of my websites yesterday. That rarely happens so it's something to celebrate when it does.
    
    That means I chose a profitable keyword to target. Clicks that are worth more than $1 are not very rare. You just have to learn how to look.

       I think most people who have commented on this post know what keywords to target. But hey $3.10 is a nice one, be nice is they were all that high.

    I think it depends on other factors.  On one of my hubs I get clicks with a high value, and also ones with tiny values.

    3.10 is very good . I did not make anything today but most of ny hubs are ranked pretty high on google.maybe tuesdays are slow,or does hubpages take their 40% of clicks all in a row so today I am left out.I wish they would explain how they split it a little better

    They explain it prefectly well, foreclosure 2010.
    
    Each time someone looks at your Hub, there is a random number generated from 00-99. If the random number is 39 or less, the ads go up with the HubPages Adsense ID in them. If it is 40 or more, the ads go up with your Adsense ID in them.
    
    There is a slight complication where you also get 10% of the views on the Hubs of the people you have referred, but unless you make a mission out of referring people, that's just noise.

    Foreclosure: HubPages are very clear how everything works.  There are no hidden agendas in terms of our earnings.  You can check this out by accessing your page and checking the AdSense IDs.  It averages out at 60%/40% - several Hubbers have checked it independantly.
    
    For me referrals are more significant.  Around 75% of my earnings are referrals although some days its almost 100% my hubs, other days 100% referral hubs.
