In simple language. I don't understand heavy technical terms.
I have an amazon account. I have it since I joined HubPages. Now what's going on??
In the simplest language I know, HubPages is changing how Amazon is going to work here and while you don't have to change before the holidays if you don't want to, you will by the end of the year if you wish to keep using the program.
I already have an amazon account. So,do I need to do any changes or join some other amazon site??
When the change is due details will be posted on the forum. To change you just complete a very simple form under the 'earnings' tab in my account - very similar to Ebay. There is an FAQ posted already with all the details. Look under 'Help'.
Right now you earn directly through Amazon.
As of Jan '12, you will earn from Amazon directly through Hubpages.
Hubpages claims this will increase profits/commission for most users since you'll get a higher percentage rate from sales.
So are you saying it is best to change now?
I saw that some people are quitting hubpages?? I read that if we don't sign up, hubpages will give us time for 1 week to remove our hubs and after that if you don't remove your hubs, all your hubs will be the copywrite of hubpages and not any more for you. Is it true??
No.
Where on earth did you get that nonsense from?
In another forum discussion. Wait let me find that.
Couldn't find it but as far as I remember I saw such wordings in that forum post. That's why I'm asking because I didn't saw any such thing in FAQs but in that forum thread.
OK.
It's utter and complete nonsense.
Your content is yours and it remains yours unless and until you willingly give or sell it it to someone else. Period. If you read otherwise in a forum, the person who said it was wrong. Period again.
Read section 6 of the ToS. They only have the right to use our content as long as its on their site - we can remove it at any time we wish and keep all rights to it.
In that way it's fine because it's in our profile, belongs us. It depends on us whether we want to keep that hub or remove or edit. But what I heard was something different; that you'll not have any right on your hub. That's why I thought that what going on with this amazon thing!
Sneha Sunny, I think I read the post you are referring to and it was by a hubber (their opinion of what could occur in the futre) and not HubPages staff. Which makes me think you are concerned when it is not neccessary to be. I think you may be taking a cynical comment out of context. The person were not happy about the Amazon change and basically said that if HubPages ever sold up ....this and that...might/ could happen.
A member of staff then replied later that the rights to our hubs was not going to go that way.
the way I look at it is when you see everyone else with hundreds of hubs panicking then is the time to think about manning the lifeboats. On the other hand it is always wise not to put all your eggs in one basket because who knows what Google or politicians may decide to alter in the future.
Thanks... for explaining. I couldn't find the post again, hence couldn't saw what the staff said.
Because Amazon refuses to allow associate accounts in states with the affiliate tax laws. Basically - it costs them too much time and money.
But this may get straightened out. Amazon's complaint (and it is legitimate, I think) is that they shouldn't have to deal with 50 different sets of laws: this is taxable here, but isn't there, there's an extra half percent on those things in that State, this one requires form 456R in triplicate monthly, that one says you can file electronically every quarter and so on.
If the States can agree on one set of rules, Amazon says they are fine with that.

*apologies if in the wrong sub-forum*It's a very very simple question. I'm not supposing the answer is equally simple. I'm kinda hoping that if an answer is forthcoming, no one is (HP team/hubbers) going to say 'if you don't like it you can pack up and go'. Enforcement coupled with high-handedness...

Has anybody in the history of Hubpages ever sell anything through an Amazon link?
by Sherry Hewins 10 years ago
I never have before, but in the past week I have made 6 separate sales through Amazon. Just wondering if anybody else is having this experience. Maybe it's just a fluke.

I know they said that as of the 25th all hubs that do not meet the new requirements would be unpublished. However, I am still coming across many hubs that don't meet the new requirement. Were these hubs missed or are they still working on this?
