I simply cannot stand this obnoxious dude!  Much less his wife being on the show with him and influencing his actions in the bargain.  Am I alone in this feeling?  mad

I find all talk show hosts of his ilk annoying.  They claim to know everything, yet they really know nothing other than how to stir up s*** for their own ratings while exploiting people's problems in public.  Personally, I don't see why people watch such garbage on TV.

Hat is a very powerful emotion against any person. I definitely dislike his technique of sensationalizing someone else's grief and difficulties on air, although I somehow thing that the people he deals with on air is all play acting and the people are actors.

You are right, Dave.  Hate was the wrong word to use because you really have to know someone well to actually hate them.  Perhaps abhor would have been a better choice of words.  smile

      Randy:

      "HATE?" that's extreme!

      What a waste of emotion!

      I'd use a different word, let see....."Disgust?"

There are those dastardly people, both in history and currently, whom I'd use the word "hate" to describe my feelings for.

But I think "hate" is a bit strong.

Are you a highly emotional person?

I don't remember when but Oprah was asked if she would like to apologize for introducing Dr Phil to everyone.  She laughed at that.

The guy is arrogant if he thinks he can solve people's problems in a few minutes as well as diagnose the root cause.  Everyone knows that psychology takes weeks and months not minutes.

Dr. Phli is entertainment. I don't consider him as a conventional psychologist and some people do like the attack of Dr. Phil.

Even if his counseling doesn't work, it is still entertainment.

What I find most annoying is that while I think his advice is good, he doesn't seem to follow it. Its a well known fact he's a total womanizer and has been divorced in the past.  Its hard to take love advice from someone like that.

What I find most annoying is people actually watch his show!  I can only bear a few minutes of his dumb sounding voice before I have to change the channel.  Obviously, some people are desperate for entertainment.  smile

What I don't understand, why people even want to go on national television with all their domestic problems and just show all their dirty underwear to everybody to sneer at it??? Certain things should be private. I do not see much difference between Dr.Phil and some pimp. Though Dr.Phil can be very charming indeed. i understand when I watch a movie, but here people come with real problems, and that shouldn't be a source of entertainment, it's not nice.

This post is as crazy as rust covered cat in hail storm being swallowed by a two legged crocodile. I'll tell you what.

The crazier thing is when 100 rust covered cats're just standing waiting for being swallowed by two legged crocodiles. Can't they learn the lesson? stay away from two legged crocodiles!

Your first mistake was turning the tv on between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Everything is bs on daytime tv.

Ah!  Someone who thinks like I do.  smile   I have a "rule" that the television isn't on during hours (or daylight) similar to what you mentioned.  I HATE a room with both TV on AND natural daylight coming in the windows at the same time.  lol

As for Dr Phil, I'm not a fan AT ALL (at least from seeing him on one thing or another on night-time TV)   lol  I think he's better than Dr Laura, though (is she even still around?)  I used to listen to her show on the radio (because I don't have any rules against radio and daytime; although I tend to have one about radio and night-time  lol )

Another one is Judge Judy.   smile    These are all people who see things in black and white when - really - they aren't always all that black and white.  On top of it, they're people who aren't worried about treating someone they don't think much of with respect.  (And then, when they're rude to someone the audiences gets all "rah rah" when they do.)

Yes, some of us were discussing Dr. Phil along with Judge Judy earlier today which prompted my original post on this thread.  But I think Judy tries to be a bitch while Phil is one naturally.  smile

That's what is so frightening to me Earnest.  In order for this dude to be so successful there has to be a large number of bored idiots with nothing better to do with their lives.  We're doomed!

I was just over at the thread on Romney.
Many are incredulous at the nominations the GOP has so far.

It seems to me the religiously insane have the reins in the GOP.

          ...and you'd be right Earn.
Republicans are conservatives and conservatives here in the USA, who vote, are religious cretins.

and it is fascinating to me that while many under-educated and over-vocal people are so critical of the real psychological establishment, and think that going to a "shrink" is to admit you are nuts, and continually put down the doctors who are very educated and practice mental health treatment - these people are ready to embrace the tv and radio pop doctors who have had mediocre educations and they just love the simplistic "methods" tv doctors employ.  fascinating and disgusting!

Dr. Phil's attitudes toward women, in particular, but also people of color, are truly weird and awful.

I have seen enough of doctor Phil to agree with you on every point you have made. smile

I endured it long enough to see his attitudes.

Arrogant and not very bright. smile

In addition to his obnoxious attitude, and boring monotone voice, I could not stand to listen to him for more than a minute.  I do not watch his show.  Hopefully the show will be cancelled soon.  I can only hope!

Not only does he have his goofy wife waiting in the audience for him, he has his son as one of the producers of the awful "The Doctors" gabfest.  And if he isn't finding his son more work, he is bringing in his other son, his wife, and their daughter to his own show--any chance he gets.  It is a family affair for the Big Baldy, who wants to keep the money in the family.  He doesn't "solve" anyone's problems in minutes.  I am sure his "guests" are well-compensated for acting up on his show.
