Nobel Peace Prize Jury Under Investigation
Probe: Has Nobel Peace Prize Lost Its Way?
"The reason for the heightened pressure rests on an investigation by the Stockholm County Administrative Board of the committee's recent choices prompted by 'persistent complaints' by author and peace researcher, Fredrik Heffermehl, and roundly criticized choices by the committee in recent years -- most notably US President Barack Obama, a war commander governing over numerous military conflicts at the time he was awarded the auspicious "peace" prize in 2009."

No. The right wing has lost its way and has carped and interfered where it does not belong. Enough is enough with the mindless ideological attacks on anything and everyone. BTW President Obama brought home more troops than Bush did.
I heartily agree with everything you said! Fredrik Heffermehl is only raising a stink because the committee didn't pick him. And for the record, Obama was quite aware he personally didn't deserve the award and said in his acceptance speech that he was accepting it in the name of the people of the United States.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee considered the President Barak Obama the right person for the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2009. What was his credit to achieve such a prestigious award? It might be rightly said the impressive speeches to his credit, which has earned him the incredible international popularity, his speech at the UN in the last Month is a record to be counted. America is the only super-power in the World after the collapse of Soviet Union but the President of Super-Power never applied or wishes to apply his supremacy in any affairs of the world in his period instead he declared unequivocally that the world peace rests with mutual interest and mutual respect what spread from London to Port of Spain, Moscow and even to Cairo. He had shown the highest degree of humanity by taking his stance on the torture and the closing of detention center at Guantanamo Bay. Right from the beginning of his Presidency, he had shown his concern for a permanent and sustainable peace in the World in quest of which he was successful to get Russia and China to go along with his plan in halting the spread of nuclear-proliferation. There may be (i) little breakthrough in the Middle-East deadlock between Israel and Palestinians, (ii) difficulties in complete withdrawal of American Forces from Iraq, (ii) more troops in Afghanistan. World Peace may not be achieved in one term of his Presidency but his Endeavour for World peace is reflected in his activity. He never hesitated to say that World Peace is not rested in one person or one nation. Therefore he vehemently declared “This award must be shared with everyone who strives for justice and dignity. He believes world peace can not be achieved by begging but sometimes by hard hitting.
I like to refer another example here to offer peace prize. Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was the second African American to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the youngest Nobel Laureate. He fought for the right of colored people. In 1956, he started Negro non-violent demonstration. He wined Nobel Prize at the age of 35. But Gandhi who fought for Independence of India and first introduced the weapon of non-violence for successful demonstration could not win Nobel Peace Prize. According to Norwegian Nobel Committee, Gandhi’s non-violence might not be a complete non-violence movement while for Dr Martin Luther King Jr, it was a complete successful non-violence movement.
I think Obama was awarded the prize for what the committee THOUGHT he was going to do - not what he had actually done at the time.
Agreed. Which means they may have lost sight of their objective.
They've been awarding "promise-based" peace prizes for a long time. They even gave Henry Kissinger one based on the good intentions of the Paris Peace Accords, even knowing (to an extent) about that man's reckless attitude toward human life.

I can't wait to read about how big of a joke the (Norwegian) Nobel Prize selecting committee is and that since nazi Germany loved Hitler and so many love Obama, it logically makes Obama Hitler. Can you people be proud for once that we have a great leader? He is not perfect, nobody is, but for god's...

Led by an overwhelming majority of American citizens, with predominantly New Yorkers on the front lines, picketers in front of the White House succeeded in making Mr. Obama vow to return his erroneously-gotten Prize. He said now he understands that it ain't okay to cause chaos WITHIN America...

Should they take away the Nobel Peace Prize from Obama? The New York Times article said that Obama personally handles the decisions regarding the killings and assasinations when it comes to the war on terrorism. He doesn't sound like the ideal recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

World Peace advocated by Gandhi & Martin Lother King by the act of Non-Violence but Obama announced world piece in a modified system of Non-Violence – a subject of discussion:
