Well I can't speak for any other guy here, but I'm going to be busy working on a few film reviews, while trying to figure how the hell I'm going to be able watch "A Cat in Paris" in time, so I can publish my Oscar predictions finally.  However, I do wish everyone a happy valentine's day.  Cheers.

I hazard a guess it's probably a matter of available time. Seems like a lot of the most successful hubbers (as indicated in HP's own "success stories" pitch) are stay-at-home moms, or a least women working part time or from home if they have a job apart from HP. Not that I'm saying stay-at-home moms have tons of free time, but at least they can probably spend more of what time they have writing.

With my wife and I both working full-time jobs and raising a two-year-old I feel accomplished if I can crank out two hubs in a week. Still, that's just my theory.

Perhaps the ratio of men to women on the staff might be pertinent to the question.  Also those in positions elevated above common writers here will have a similar male to female ratio, I would wager.  Merely a guess, however.  smile

I also have a theory that we'd have more men here if you could be more crude.  How do you expect to attract guys without being able to yell racial epithets and scream curse words?  I know I feel terribly censored constantly ;-)

One doesn't need to do any of the things you addressed to be admonished here on HP.  And yes, having a largely female community has its downsides if one happens to be a male on HP.  smile

I don't want to sound sexist, but there are probably more opportunities for mothers who stay at home to write. We still have not reached a point where very many men stay home while the wife produces. But, perhaps we are getting there!!

what is it with men, that they dont like to talk as much as we do...... maybe is they would do more talking, or typing less would need to come from us, who of course find it so hard to just keep chattering on and on and on and on...... I am usually switched off so when a male speaks i have to say   Repeat that please.   Well you men you seem to listen to us all the time, you love our chat, i mean bet loads of you read this, then answer with one word or none at all..... I mean, it is given that men are quieter,  but we do get sick of having to make polite conversation all the time,,,,,,, i mean take the other day..... blah blah      .........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I don't think you manage this thread quite optimally. You could ask some pointed questions to follow up. My first response was longer, but you did not reply, so I edited it down. Don't worry, I can keep a conversation of any length going with you or anyone else on this site, male or female. But you are not responding well to the comments you have already received.

well now, a fight........ You edited it up for a while.   I did not reply straight away, as you scared me a bit..... i did not want to get into an argument, instead i went to read your hubs......... i commented on one of them, it was sooooooooo romantic, now where were we.....

I was making the point, initially, that many people on this site tend to be so sensitive that it is easily to be misunderstood. Setting things straight can take some time and effort. I believe that not everyone (males, especially?) have the resources to deal with that. But that is just my own perspective based on the many close interactions I have had with people on the site.

Like I have never found anyone on this site remotely scary, for example. Our different perceptions may give a clue to your question in the Original Post.

you know what, i saw the thread saying why most hubbers woman, and i started this off as a kind of joke..... i am not foreign, i am sensitive though, but this is not to be taken too seriously.  Relax

If you want to say to me, "you scared me a bit" in jest, then I don't think I can discuss with you on this thread. I am perfectly relaxed. Good luck to you!
