Hello,
One of my hubs is making about $0.40-$0.60 per day, but I've noticed that my traffic is actually lower on the higher paying days in some cases, and vice versa. I am curious as to which factors go into calculating the amount of money you make on each hub per day. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Nicole
It's down to where your traffic comes from - is it from Google and other search engines(organic traffic) or HubPages? If it's from search engines it will have a higher CPM(earnings per thousand views) and so earns you more money.
Thanks for asking this question. I am having a headache too. Glad to see some answers. Thanks!
Advertisers are willing to pay more for viewers who are searching for certain preferred keywords, so it also depends upon the keywords in your article and the keywords the viewer typed into the search engine to find yor article. Someone else can probably explain it more accurately than I just did.
Loads of factors come into the equation, e.g. what time of day HP is taking its 40% of earnings, the price advertisers on your hubs are paying at any one time, if you use HP Ad program or Adsense, which adverts were clicked on (in the case of 'Adsense only' more so than HP Ads), etc etc. So many factors, but this is a basic guideline to work on.
Wow, that brings up a significant point. Surely HP is not just going by hours and taking the peak 40% of the day.
I think it is random hours of the day officially, but have no way of knowing the hours day by day, so have to trust what HP tell us.
Right. I guess I began to wonder because I have primarily one hub getting hits and they're only from Google, and I am getting paid pretty much only from Hubpages (presumably since the Google ads on my site are not even remotely relevant to my hub's content). So from this circumstance I am able to rule out a lot of things that could potentially be influencing my income, i.e., same hub, same info content, same pay source (no outside advert. income), same traffic engine. So what could be making the difference other than general fluctuations in traffic, which, as I've already explained, do not correlate. This leaves the visitor's time of day, or possibly the visitor's length of stay, or maybe even whether the visitor is new or return.
Or, some other strange algorithm Hubpages is using.
I did a little more searching and found that it appears to be a random algorithm sort of like a die roll that chooses and is not correlated to time of day. This per an HP rep in another thread.

Past two months I earned like very less amount, less than 1/2 dollar. If I continue writing and publishing at the rate of one article...

My CTR is sharply down for April. I've only had 2 clicks on over 800 views. Worse still these are both referral Hubs rather than my own and were only worth a few cents.Up to now my CTR has been around 2%. Is this just me or are others seeing a drop in earnings? The trouble...

Having been with Hubpages for getting on two years now, and having penned 83 Hubs, I think it's time I threw the towel in. Over that time, I conscientiously stuck to all the rules and guidelines, and was rewarded by views gradually rising to around 350 per day with earnings around $25 per month. I...

Last week, I received an email from Google AdSense advising me that my payments were on hold due to missing tax information. The email is definitely from Google and not phishing.I have never seen an email like this from them previously, and all my payments come from HubPages to PayPal. There is a...
