Jenubouka!  Jenubouka!  I don't "get" domestic duty stuff.  Does this mean I have to C-L-E-A-N???  Ewwwwwwwww!!!

I agree with you:  "No money, no honey."

As long as there is no permanent change to layout or signs of being paid, I think all of us are going on breaks to do something else.  Just by observing the feed, I see plenty of newbies, and no familiar name authors associated with HubPages.

Well, off to find that can of Endust.  Or was that Easy Off???

For the 'tech-heads' Paul E has posted an article which may explain "why Google apparently hates us"

    http://pauledmondson.hubpages.com/hub/G … ch-Results

Basically it means that Google may be imposing 'duplication penalties' on older pages (prior to the subdomain switch) because the old and new URL's are in the index (301 not working; there should only be one - the Sub one). It appears to be related in some way to the 'old' and 'new' layouts for food (1 May 2012) - with both caches remaining.

Help needed to translate this into 'plain english'. Please!
It may explain why 'older pages' have been 'demoted'

That would surely explain why those of us whose hubs have been successful a long time are suddenly seeing a hit. I hope they figure it out.

That explains a lot actually. But is this one of those times we need to fill out a DMCA? or just weight it out?

@marye my gut is there is an issue impacting older hubs for some authors.  I've been  spending quite a bit of time on it and have reached out to google.  We are running a test now to see if we can shake loose so to speak.  My recommendation for old hubs is to sit tight till we hear back.

Paul... that is my thought, too. I did get rid of some that had not had much traffic in their history.. I figured it couldn't hurt. I just plan to wait it out - you guys seems to do a fabulous job of getting to the bottom of it and fixing it eventually. Just too bad that about the time we get it figured out Google changes it. Obviously Google is female. tongue Thanks to all of your for what you do. As I said before, while we all feel the frustration of it - when the authors lose money so does Hubpages...

I too am grateful for all the behind the scenes efforts HubPages staff are putting in ... I am beginning to see some recovery in my traffic so it could be that our 'mystery infection' is healing up ...

The problem for me is that I have only been here 4 months and so don't have old articles...at least not on this site.  I got wiped out!!

I have ridden out so many Google storms and I am not to worried about it. As always HP does find a way to figure the problems. Just like Paul said hang tight its not only effecting HP its affecting all websites. I know I have articles sitting on quite a few other ones too.

But as always HP is my home. smile

potpietgirl has an interesting article about getting benched by Penguin. She likens it to a 'time out' because sites are breaking a google rule/s. In the mean time, the search results are all messed up. Yesterday I saw a hub similar to one of mine (that has disappeared into the back pages) rank quite highly for a very mediocre hub. I read it and followed the internal links to exact duplicates of the hub. It used deceptive anchor text which it was probably ranking for. It got flagged.

SEO is losing its grips on the web, image and video content has been taking over mostly, as well as social everything.

Good Luck! folks its been a rough ride thus far on hubpages for little ole me, but I do know the storm is on approach for sure, and we must be prepared to adapt. Hope we all make it through what's due to come next digitally, because boy its been getting intense lately on the web as a whole.

Frankly, I think what is happening here is that Google has gotten too big and too complex, even for its own good, and now is running into problems.  I couldn't even sign in to my home page today because Google changed something!  Very strange!
