   Insidious And CLEARLY HAVE NO PLACE In Postmodern Society
   What gives?  This the 21st century.   People should have evolved to the point that artificial barriers such as skin color, ethnicity, sexual preferences, and other related issues should be total non-issues.   Oh no, there are some people among us who strongly portend that because of their inherent racial/ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and/or other related status that they are indeed "superior" to the "others".   Well we are all equal and it is about time that this juvenile obsession with such issues cease.   If  humankind is going to advance and truly be millennial, all obsessions with artificial demarcations must cease and CEASE NOW!   Do YOU agree?

      Absolutely, equality is the foundation of a moral society and until everyone is equal no one is equal, it's insane how some forms of bigotry have become more acceptable than others, denying anyone rights is just as bad no matter the flavor of intolerance, wanting to deny gay people the right to marry is just as bad as wanting black people in separate schools or barring them from certain buildings. It's truly sad how long it takes to bring about social change.

         It matters not what man allows. Man is a fickle creature. Man has created an artificial world. He is becoming an artificial creature who is is in opposition to the natural order. No living creature mates with the same sex. It is contrary to the natural order, opinion to the contrary notwithstanding. Man can not pass a law contrary to nature that changes nature itself. The law of man may not be broken, but the law of nature has no mercy. The law of man can only relieve the conscience, but not the actuality.
         
         A monkey will only resort to such behavior in captivity. It is the same for a human. Humans have buillllt their own zoo in which to live. This is a behavior disorder cause by captivity.

            Actually pretty much all of the higher animals practice homosexuality and have homosexual members but that's not the point, we are human, some people prefer to love people of the same sex, that is no reason to deny them rights, simple.

               Your statement is false. Animals do not exhibit such behavior in the wild.
               
               I do not suggest denying rights to anyone. My approval is not a necessity. It is best to keep things reality based.  I am not a "homophobe", as insinuated in the original post. I do not have an unreasonable fear of homosexuals. I am simply pointing something out to you. Mankind is in bondage.

   Until wealth and resources are evenly distributed and there is no danger that anything of value will run out for anyone who has that thing, there will always be "the other." Race is just the most convenient reason to hate because it is so easy to see. But religion (unendingly divisive all by itself) is another one, access to food or jobs is another, and there are a zillion other subdivisions that can be found to define the threat some group has towards another in terms of...
   
   Resources.
   Access.
   Respect.
   Power.
   
   They will NEVER be in perfect balance until humanity loses ambition... (totally ignoring genetics and cultural exposure, environment, etc. here). Ambition is why we are the top of the food chain. You get rid of what makes some people amazingly successful (and in being so, protective of "their own"), you end human dominance (a.k.a. success). Without ambition, our race is done in under a thousand years. Equal and all peaceful and stuff, sure, but done.

      There is a huge difference between discrimination and ambition, as a society perhaps even as a species we have been discriminating less but human achievement has not slowed, indeed it's sped up, people don't need to discriminate to be successful, at least I didn't, if some people do that is a weakness in them that needs to be eliminated not an aspect of humanity as a whole.
      
      No ones ability to accept others makes them incapable of anything.

      If (and that's a big if) humanity reached the point where scarcity of resources was not an issue, then I think human ambition would just be directed elsewhere. Imagine if you could pursue any interest you ever wanted to pursue, and money was no object. Some would want to work out how to terraform the planets in our solar system, or visit the next solar system. Visit the next galaxy. Some would just want to run an old fashioned coffee shop, serving quaint drinks from antiquated "cups", just because they like it. Others would want to pursue art and music. Others maths and science. Some might try to master ancient languages like English. Some might subscribe to old religions, or new religions and devote themselves to those.
      
      Doing any of these things still requires a will to succeed and achieve goals. Only the motivation for doing things will change. People will go from doing things just to pay the bills, to doing things simply because they have an interest or curiosity about it.

   You can make people equal under the law, in terms of rights, but the law is not universal, i.e. it only applies within a jurisdiction. US law doesn't confer any rights on UK citizens, and vice versa. You could argue that the very existence of borders, passports, visas, work permits etc is by its nature discriminatory. So, should we do away with all of these? Perhaps we should but is it ever going to happen?
   On the subject of equality, a quick glance at the Olympic Games suggests that the human race is characterised by inequality. Bigger, stronger, faster, more skilled - you name it. We thrive on differences, not uniformity.
   The law should (and tries to) embody fairness and equality in rights and opportunity, but it can only concern itself with what people do, not with what they think or feel. That's as it should be.
   The original poster disapproves of prejudiced people who feel superior to others.
   I'd go as far as suggest that the original poster appears to consider prejudiced people to be in some way inferior, even less evolved. But how can that be, if we are all equal? Hmm. . .

   People can also discriminate against others because of their own position in society. Sometimes, when an individual compares themselves to others who are more successful/attractive etc. They foster feelings of inadequacy, by comparing themselves to people less attractive/successful they feel better about themselves, ie. at least I'm not a single parent/living in a ghetto/disabled, it's a coping mechanism.
