Is grace a replacement for the Law?

   Grace is the foundation to the Law.

      Grace is the fufillment of the law. The law showed us that we can't possibly be good enough. We have so much to be forgiven for that we can thank Christ all the more for paying the price for us.

   It is through the Law that we come to understand how far we fall short in our behavior.  Then we can appreciate the grace given to us by God, allowing us to have a relationship with Him by the forgiveness given us through Jesus.

   . . . and, even in giving us His law God was dealing with us graciously. Man was only 'under' the law in the garden, once he rebelled and broke God's law, God initiated the covenant and promised man a Savior . . . later, in giving man the law, God was advancing His covenant of grace, the promise, by preparing us (through the law) to recognize our need of a Savior.
   
   Because the law is described with the word 'law' many assume that the in the OT men were 'under' the law and in the NT men are 'under' grace - but man was only 'under' law (as the basis of our relationship with God) in the garden . . . in the OT men were 'under' grace (through the law) just as we post-NT are 'under' grace (through faith). Since the fall, God has dealt with man graciously, even in the giving of the law.

   The law was "a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ" (Col.2:17). Jesus fulfilled the law and therein offers salvation to us by His grace (not according to our works). "Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin" (Romans 3:20). The law proves us sinners short of the glory of God. Once we recognize that we can only become righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. The law intends to drive us to Christ for the law cannot save us. "A man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law" (Romans 3:28). Grace then is the fulfillment of the law.

   The Law was the strict doctor with no personality to diagnose our sin problem and tell us we are gonna die if we do not get a new heart because mans heart is desperately evil as spoken in God's word but the law could not give us the new heart we so desperately need which will change our sinful nature.
   
   No church membership or church hopping will change us we find we still have the sin problem.
   
   We see doctor Grace with all smiles informing us that he can do the operation which he does but also introduces us to our donor Jesus Christ.
   
   When Jesus Christ fulfilled the law's penalty of death by being tried, convicted as a criminal and executed; God's wrath toward his greatest creation because of their sin problem that was inherited through Adam was satisfied which meant the sacrificial offerings that only put man's sins forward  for another year was done away with as a way to be in fellowship with the Holy perfect God who demands justice and righteousness "because he who knew no sin was made sin for us" that we might become and declared righteous in his presence because of the sacrificial lamb Jesus Christ who raised us up to be sons and daughters of the most high God at the cross.
   
   At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light and the burdens of my heart rolled away; it was there yes there where Satan's bell was rung  and we were set free!
   
   I was in a hurry but I think we get the point.
