   I sure don't understand my statistics page and what they base the scores at.  A hub that I did last week  -  Part one of a series  -Villa in Tuscany has had 0 comments and only 14 views and all of a sudden it is at the top of my list with a hub score of 86.     It also has a black "H" beside it denoting that it chosen as a "featured hub".   So are many of my other hubs  - some of which have not had much activity.   How is this decided.     Also another hub of mine which has has comments in the last couple of days -  now has a blue down arrow on it.    ????    And yet it too is chosen as a "featured hub"  in face I have about 25 that have this black H next to them.   What exactly does this mean?

      Featured is good. : ) The hubs without the black H re not searchable. This happens when they have no activity for a while. You may want to do some (even minor) update on them and get them re-evaluated for featuring.
      
      I also have inconsistent hub score, with some shooting up to the top for apparently no reason, and going back down the next day. All I'm really looking at are the views. If a hub goes weeks with no views, then I try to update or tweak the title.

      If our hubs can be accessed by searches....people outside of hubpages read them...but don't leave comments normally........
      I have a popular hub with nearly 2000 views.......but that many sure didn't come from our fellow hubbers!....

      From my understanding the score you mention also includes in the calculations the quality of the hits...where they come from and such.  I have experienced the same thing over the months.  I would say that I agree that it appears that the quality of the hits is a major factor.
      
      The red and blue arrows really should not be much of a concern.  I have seen them appear with fluctuations of just one view.  Now if you start seeing a steady decline while viewing the stats, then tweaking may be in order.  A few days or a week of blue arrows many times will correct themselves.

   "Featured" just means the hub does not have a "no index" tag, thus it can be found using search engines.

   Ignore hub score unless it falls to 40.
   
   Blue and red arrows denote a fair sized change in traffic from what it has been, but "fair sized" seems relative.

   Sometimes if you write a quality hub, even if it hasn't received much traffic at a certain point, It will get a good score anyway. The blue down arrow means traffic going down, but it can still be featured..You might read the info in the learning center, but you may not find the details you need. Featured means it has been indexed, has quality content, and has received enough traffic at that point. to remain featured. One of mine was featured and then lost a lot of traffic and lost its featured state. I was about to unpublish it anyway. You can sometimes tell what hubs will become questionable. .

   i think you should just write too.....i don't think trying to figure out the stats will result in any concrete conclusions.
   
   I have no ads attached to my writing..i don't write to make money....most times when I have written (and i haven't in a long time) my hubs are primarily read by folks that follow and like what i have to say.  since the changes here over the last few months, i have 2 featured hubs that had little activity in the last 6 months.....sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....why they are featured is a mystery to me....but it doesn't matter....i just noticed the stats tonight actually after reading the posts in this thread.......

   I have noticed that the red and blue arrows change quite frequently on some my hubs. I don’t have none in idle yet, but I’m sure I will after the holiday season.
