Moderation is the key proven over and over. Studies have shown we eat far too much. Several small meals a day a instead of 3 large ones for example. Cooked foods we now know destroy vital enzymes so raw nuts, fruits and vegetables are optimal. Meat products should be kept to a minimum. Avoid processed foods as much as possible. Low sugar intake etc etc. Physical activity has also been proven as key to long life, again. in moderation. For example: 4 days a week on cardio for 20 minutes plus some strength  training on nautilus machines for muscle tone- again, just an example. Keep an upbeat and positive outlook on life as a matter of course, in other words, be happy- laugh a lot. One thing we can't control is our DNA, but even those who's parents or grands tend not to have long lives can still overcome that to some extent by adhering to the above.

Every one's body reacts to things differently. It is up to each individual to find out what their body thrives off of. For example, plenty of peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and sweet potatoes might do well for one person, but another might have a nightshade allergy, and wouldn't be able to eat most of those things. A person who works a lot, long hours, will need more immune boosting foods than someone who is allowed to relax and play more.
However, I think the Gerson Therapy is a good thing for any one to go off of. It is based off a freshly juiced diet, to cleans and then raw food thereafter.
I personally find I do well without gluten, though I have no full on allergy to it. I don't consume much dairy, and I eat a lot of fish, but no other meats. As a result, I don't get sick as much. Once I swapped my coffee intake to just herbal teas, without really paying attention to which teas I drank, I stopped getting sick.
There's more to longevity than a healthy diet, but a healthy diet is an excellent step to take, and one that will heavily impact a person.
