I am an Ebay PowerSeller and have been rejected as an affiliate 2-3 times . Anyone have a theory on this?
lol Too much money would be nice. Still waiting for it.
hey i feel for you brother i don't remember which forum i was on but i remember a bunch of people saying thats this has happened to them.
Conflict of interest?
Actually, I have no clue, though I could see where a powerseller could use their hub on hubpages to direct traffic directly toward their store or their sales.
Probably would be best to wait for a better answer, as I appear to be tapped out on wisdom in this category.
It's happening to a lot of us new hubbers. You can ask Blondpoet, she's got an Ebay store, too, a profitable one. There's been another forum post like this. I will try to find it.
Here it is: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/15577
Maddie Ruud makes a comment, too. So check that out. Sorry you're having trouble as well.
I couldn't give you any solid reason, but I know that it's incredibly hard to get into the eBay partner program these days, 6-12 months ago they even had a big cull and booted out thousands of established successful eBay partners without much of a reason.
The only real theory I've heard is that eBay came to the conclusion that all the people that were creating niche hubs/sites etc about for example 'iPhones' with the single intention of sending traffic to eBay were actually diverting the natural traffic away from eBays organic search engine results and then sending it back to eBay via affiliate links. So eBay concluded that by disposing of these affiliates, the traffic would end up at eBay eventually anyway, without the need to pay middlemen. Whether this is true or not I couldn't say, but it is damn hard to get into the program these days.
* Also your level as a seller is completely irrelevant in terms of becoming an affiliate, sorry.
lol, Irrelevant you say? I do not think it's irrelevant that ebay will not accept an individual whom is already affiliated with ebay "by being an ebay powerseller". How is it rational for ebay not to grant affiliatiation when one is already affiliated. lol Also making thousands of dollars for Ebay, I think it's highly relevant that Ebay would disrespect it's backbone.
Well you might not consider it irrelevant, but they certainly do. You may be affiliated with them, but you are not an affiliate.
You are still wrong by the way. If someone sells on ebay, they are an ebay affiliate obviously. lol
Yep, now if only you could accept it. But then perhaps denial is more attractive to you.
I have accepted that you are good at stating the obvious.
I tried my best to answer your question honestly and to the best of my knowledge, and meant no disrespect by it. But I guess you never wanted to hear the truth, but merely wanted people to agree with you.
(1) The truth is that your level as a seller is completely irrelevant to your application to become an affiliate (like it or not).
(2) You are not an eBay affiliate. (like it or not)
Sorry, but that's the way it is.
I hate to say it but your avatar suits you well, your original question was in reference to becoming an affiliate (as you well know), you may well sell via eBay and as such are affiliated with them in one sense, but the two are not the same.
But then I guess we'd be getting along just fine had I just said 'oh poor you, oh how mean eBay are to treat you that way...'
I don't think you understand the point of me posting this topic. I didn't post for yours or anyones sympathy lol. I posted to try to understand the logic of ebay allowing affiliates.
And then got arsey when I tried to offer an explanation and called me a pest.
I appreciate the explanation. Some of the things Ebay does simply does not make sense at times.
That's something we can agree on, anyways I do hope you get accepted, 4th time lucky perhaps, not that it makes me any real money to speak of.
Thank You. It will kinda be a bummer if I get accepted and then don't make any money.
The actions the EBay have taken over the last couple of years indicate that they don't give a rats about their sellers - powersellers or otherwise.
Have a look on the discussion at Inspirepub's Hub http://hubpages.com/hub/eBay-Exposed
Cheers,
Eric G.
Thanks for posting Eric. Me an ebay seller fees have had disagreements in the past many times. lol

I signed up here 8 months ago. Then I looked for signing up for eBay. But Hubpages showed and is still showing this message "eBay has changed the terms of their affiliate program, and is not currently approving applications of people that do not operate a site on their own domain. If you...

This is the third time I have been rejected by e-bay and have no idea why. There's nothing odd about my hubs. Now, I don't know what their ruling is, but it doesn't seem fair and (perhaps I'm inept at this) there isn't a clear way to be able to contact them for feedback. They are...

We're all set, folks. Please follow our step-by-step guide to sign up for an eBay Partner Network account (we think it's easier than it was for Commission Junction, and far quicker). Please note that your eBay Capsules will NOT earn through Commission Junction after today, so to continue to...
