What is your opinion of OPs who continuously post negative threads on the same sujbect continuously? There is only so much that one can state about one subject. Is the OP really so miserable that he/she has an axe to grind? Does the OP have deep seated emotional issues?
Furthermore, when an intelligent and logical counterpoint is presented to the OP, he/she goes into attack mode-derisely informs you of your "ignorance" regarding the subject or better yet, he/she becomes exasperated, totally dismissing you as if you were a persona non grata. Of course, that is immature, puerile behavior on the part of the OP as each poster has the right to express his/her opinion although the OP adamantly refuses to realize that.
It sounds like you're referring to a specific person.
Not mentioning any names here......... There are a minute percentage of OPs who have nothing positive to say about a neutral subject. A neutral subject in this context is a subject where there is both positive and negative aspects.
However this minute percentage of OPs adamantly refuse to see the positive aspects of the subject at hand, only focusing on the negative aspects. Once the negativity gets hold of the OPs, they have a field day with the subject, actually carving out a theme. When you tell them about it and/or express a differing opinion, they ignore you and tell you they do not want post anything else at "their " post anymore.
gm....What you present, does seem to be a continual issue here and I can understand your point of view on this unpleasant reality. Personally, I have a solution for this so that it simply doesn't effect nor annoy me. I don't read them.
I have no desire to argue, be attacked nor listen to someone stand screaming on their soap box. Individuals who exist for this sort of interaction, should consider running for Political office.
If no one read or commented or engaged in any interaction at all.....wouldn't they soon get the hint? Fortunately, I have so many really vital, interesting and positive things to say and do.....I totally ignore the type of post you mention.
gmwilliams, I think that oftentimes a person who does this is truly not aware of the way they come across. In their mind, the issues they are raising are so important that it doesn't matter (to them) how those issues are presented.
In my opinion, that sort of stance will have the effect of making other people less likely and less willing to listen than they would be if the thread opener were to use more diplomacy in the presentation. But, I believe that in some cases they may even believe they are being diplomatic. Or they truly don't care whether people "get" what they are saying. Or they are actually only interested in discussing the subject with like-minded people, even though would not admit it.
It's easy to be drawn in to conversations like that which ultimately go nowhere, and then to be frustrated as a result. But in getting to know other Hubbers in these forums (and also behind the scenes), I've found that sometimes there really are some deep-seated reasons why some people act the way they do. For me, the best approach often is just to ignore certain threads and topics. - Just my opinion.

offense at the slightest issue? I remember my 8th grade teacher stating that oversensitivity and taking offense at the most insignficant minutiae is a sign of immatury. She further stated that people will tend to not respect and/or deride people who possess such...

I suppose it was an inevitable reaction to Stephen Hawking’s new Book ‘The Grand Design’ where he concluded that There is no place for God in theories on the creation of the Universe. To me, it is equally inevitable that the media would immediately zero in on this concluding fact rather than...
