Yesterday, one of my Hubs was unpublished and sent to me for revision because it was considered "duplicate content". It was due to an honest mistake and I truly believe I have fixed it; but it is now sitting in the green "Submitted for Publication" and I'm just wondering about how long I'm going to have to wait and worry if I'm going to be banned from the site.

I'm a worrier (haven't you guessed?) and I really don't want to be sent away. I didn't mean to do anything wrong sad

Hey! It undergoes a 24 hour quality assessment to see everything is on the up and up. I don't think they'll ban you just because you had that one hub docked for 'duplicate content'. If you're a chronic violator, which I'm sure you're not, then that's a different story! Have a nice day!

    Hi LastRoseofSummer2,

When a hub is unpublished for violation of Hubpages ToS, it has to be moderated by among others, a human moderator. If the hub is free of violation, it will be published. It might take sometime before it is published as hub moderation can take up to 72 hours, sometimes faster. There is no need to worry though but avoid Hubpages ToS violation by all means.

      Thank you all!
I really think I have the problem fixed. What happened was this: I wrote a hub about the history of a song. To make a point, I added the lyrics both in German as well as in the original English. I didn't think this would be a problem since both versions have been in the public domain for almost two centuries (and I gave credit to the original sources), but I think the content filter didn't like this. When I edited the hub, I removed pretty much all of the lyrics and simply added original information of my own to retain the point. Beyond this, I really don't know what went wrong since this hub is 100% my own creation.

I'm new here so I'm still learning what works; and, like I said, it was an honest mistake which I am trying to fix.

      Thanks again!

@LastRoseofSummer2 Glad you have your issue resolved.
Whether or not the content is in the public domain has no effect on it being duplicate.  Duplicate content simply means that the content is available online elsewhere.  We do not specifically forbid lyric, quote, and scripture Hubs, but they should be predominantly original content.

You can find more details here related to what HubPages considers duplicate content in the Learning Center.

it usually takes 24 hrs. or more. I agree with writinglover, unless one is a chronic violator, I' m sure it will be featured any time sooner since you have fixed it.

No, I'm not by any means a chronic violator! I haven't been on HubPages long enough to do anything heinous and I've NEVER had any trouble at the other content sites I've been on - that's some of why this whole thing has me tied up in knots....but I'm relaxing thanks to you all smile

Hi Rose. As the lyrics are public domain, you could put them in photo format and they won't show up as duplicate content. Just take a screenshot of the lyrics and include them in a photo capsule in your hub,

@chasmac Circumventing the original content requirement by hiding text in an image is not advisable and could result in your content or profile being flagged for violation.
