I just had to delete several comments from one of my Hubs. They weren't just rude or raw, they were racially motivated with an air of unnatural arrogance. The content was so sensitive, however, I feared that replying any more than I did would constitute a possible breach of HP rules; not due to my own replies, but because of the very nature of his comments.
Sometimes I'll leave a comment (that someone has posted) that is hateful or negative, just to prove a point and show how utterly ridiculous it is. But this guy kept going on with it, even stating: "...meaning no disrespect but..." Yeah, the big "but". No way...he was digging for a debate that could have gotten out of hand.
I checked his IP address. It was in the U.S. and he used the same name on all 3 comments.
Anyhow, it was disturbing, so I deleted them all, including my first attempts at polite response to de-escalate what I suspected he was headed for.
How about you guys?
I have had many hatefully based comments. Hatred directed at groups which I do not acknowledge. Do not take the actions of the individual, place that individual in a group for the purpose of spreading hate for the group. I will never post such comments.
I agree with all of you. It's not that we're deleting them because they disagree with our topic, it's because they're motivated by hate and naivete that nobody wants to read in the first place.
Haven't had this problem yet. Though, since I deal solely in entertainment topics, I doubt it's likely to crop up, anyway.
Yes, I deleted a guy who basically set up shop on my hub's comments section and answered the comments of others. I shook my head, not recalling writing any of those replies when I realized it weas him who was doing the responding.

Is it ever justified to delete reader comments?Do you ever delete comments on your Hubpages? Sometimes we get inappropriate or over promoting comments on our hubs, how do you handle the situation?

How often do you Deny comments from another HP member? If you do deny them is it because of profanity/insults, you don't like what they say because it goes against your hub, you are suppressing commentary, or another reason.

Why would anyone delete a comment on their hub?If I deleted a comment on one of my hubs, I would figure I am not good at dealing with people who might disagree with me. People can agree or disagree, it's a free world. If the comment was mean or nasty, well I'm not the one looking bad,...

I just noticed that comments I delete from the 'comments' section on my accounts page are not being deleted from the actual hubs. One of my hubs gets spammed a lot by people posting links and email addresses for 'quack' healthcare. I have clicked the 'spam' button and then clicked...
