I Know I Am Alive
Like the tiny black fly on the big wide leaf
I sit on the edge of my universe
And contemplate everything.
I feel the wind,
I feel it-
The tender brush of its rustling, unseen fingers,
Fingers that can be cold enough
And intrusive enough,
To chill my bones
I feel them and I know,
I am alive.
If I am still enough, I sense
The earth’s mighty tremble
Beneath my tiny feet
As it hurls itself around the sun,
through space and time
I sense it-
The spin of the planet,
In its graceful arc around the sun
Oh, you beautiful dangerous being!
I sense it and I know
I am alive.
I can hear all the sound around me
And inside of me,
I close my eyes and I can hear it all,
The cycles and sounds of the universe at work
The creaking of the old bones of the trees,
The echo of my heart
Pounding in my ears
I hear it-
My bones creak with the trees
In the winter rigidity
The baby’s cry, always there,
Always reminding me
Of my responsibilities.
Of my importance
And I know,
I am alive.
Ah.. yes.. Sometimes life is just a series of footsteps one after the other until we get a pardon of relief. Well done.
I have some. Would it be best to share by posting a link to my HubPage? Or should I just type it into this reply?
Stop by my Hubs and have a read,
I hope my readers will be pleased.

Here's a poem I wrote yesterday:
The Choice
I hoped I could have it both ways
But the bible says it's not okay
I must snap out of this daze
and enter a new phase
I chose Him over you
I really wanted you, too
He's got so much more to offer
Move on to Him is what I must do.
To each of us a destiny, to some of us a goal. Whatever makes us happy, whatever makes us whole. Keep your faith...
Maybe its your eyes or the way you
speak or your perfumed dance
Maybe its the way I watch as you dress
or the visions of chance
But I will always walk up behind
as you ask touching your hip
And touch gently your shoulder as
you ask me to zip
But then once in a great while you
might turn and smile as I do
But instead of going up I go down
and the zipper does too
I have plenty posted all over my profile page. Please feel free to read. I love an audience

This is a nonsense poem I wrote as I was drifting into sleep.
Hope you enjoy!
Bob, Bob, Bob - Bobbing Bonnets Down The Mountain
I tossed and turned and tumbled,
Waiting all through the night and
At half past the second twenty-second hour,
With squinty blurry boogery eyes,
I see the clock tick tock about my west dove housing tower.
Its hour hand leaves plumes of thinning vapors –
Spreading all into the air.
Wait – and then you will see
On this nights second twenty-third hours
Tock
As hands go clicking into a space
that is their place at their pace -
Ticking all above the square.
There hanging;
The small man.
See as he screams shouting rants as
All across the sky vultures dive and peck and screech hunger
as they follow his rise and decent.
Watching -
As he hangs with forehead turning red
and sheets of drench drip down
From him.-
He holds on fighting until the drop isn't too far at all
at least past the second twenty-third fourth hour mark,
On the Big Ben Clock in the middle of my west and south
My stained glass ceilings made into
A mural blown and colored
In a panoramic burning of books and painted canvas.
And The Large Eye - it
follows as you stand in every corner
about the room.
He tightens grip
And when it’s safe to drop – letting go of the second hand
-counting something like 87 ticks-
He jumps shooting into the cave filled with cages carrying all sorts of crooked things.
Hiding behind the stalactites bright and drippy
He shrinks from sight or smell.
All of them charismatic and dramatic,
Bashfully belying intent; a battery of batting eyes -
Blue with blond lashes;
Walk into the cave filled with baskets
To withdraw their sages
Until the end of the day.
Down the long windy road they go,
A herd of white bonnets bobbing down the mountain.
Bob, bob, bob,
Around the corner, down the mountain.
I toss and turn
Wait.
I don’t have a west dove tower!
No tower of any direction is there
Above this lofty bed!
I shout from atop.
Run and fetch – I want my fruit and tree!
I swear they look like mice.
These servants serving me look like the singing mice of
Cinderella from Disney tales.
Wait – scratching head
I toss and turn,
And deeper into the night....
Until buzz and beep and boing
Bounce you out of bed
Bob, bob, bob
You bounce off to see the day.
Bob, bob, bob
Ouch!
I stubbed my freaking toes reaching for
the snooze
snooze..
Rubbing eyes.
Bob… Yawn.
Squinting eyes.
The day is so bright.

Oh ya! That's my poem! Infringe it and I'll chop off a hand!
Have a wonderful morning all.
"Bob eh?" said Edmund Blackadder, "Ummm... Bob! That's a strange name for a girl!"
That's only because your British.. It's all the rage over here. Now if I made everyone call me Lord.. well then....THAT would be strange. ;-)
I love life
So Life surely loves me back
Love at first sight
I used to share my poetry on deviantart.com I removed most of it, but I still have a few things there. I am excited by this post though because I do love to share my poetry as it is my emotional outlet!
I'd like to share something I wrote about having cancer. In this poem I speak of "my love" as a symbol for a cure for the disease.
Dreams and Disease
by me
Embraced infant-like night time naps
As was brought forth fantastic fantasy
It was heavenly happiness
Dreaming of my love like my love was here
Deception roused me, if only I'd known
Waking up wouldn't have been an option
Disorientation and fatigue are symptomatic
The perfect pill that heals can currently kill
Waiting for the poison
Worse before better, near death before life
Slow decay in the brain, forgotten feelings
Slight sight sends my sleeping mind deeper
Welcome delicious darkness it's been too long
Enter me and induce the inability to feel
Exhaustion defeats emotion
I fear mornings wake as descending drift I take
My dear dream disappears, he is nowhere near
Married to misery, maybe this was meant to be
I share with you
Because you asked
Prefer you see
My hubs amassed
So visit me
To see the rest
I think that route
For me is best
Peace
Hope is like the flowers
waiting on the sun to shine
the rain for the rainbow
me for you to be mine.
Faith is knowing that something bigger than life
oversees us all
knowing that the sky won't fall.
Love is the joy of hearing a baby's first cry
the overflow in your heart
the sole reason why...
we Hope to have Faith in a Love that won't ever die.
- N.Turner
My silence
My silence have been broken
With more than a fiery blade
My life feels like a token
And me, I too started to fade
Steel bars crept into my chest
And so easily won my heart
Did not even notice the lonely nest
As everything in me was torn apart
Time dances by
As I hold my air
As my thoughts seem to fly
I died which does not seem fair
Im tired and need rest
And I cant go on
Scary invested pest
And I don’t know where I belong
my silence - so silent
I watched a video on Sixto Rodriguez, a musician from the 1970's. I immediately fell in love with his lyrical abilities.
Crucify Your Mind :
Was it a huntsman or a player
That made you pay the cost
That now assumes relaxed positions
And prostitutes your loss?
Were you tortured by your own thirst
In those pleasures that you seek
That made you Tom the curious
That makes you James the weak?
And you claim you got something going
Something you call unique
But I've seen your self-pity showing
As the tears rolled down your cheeks
Soon you know I'll leave you
And I'll never look behind
'Cos I was born for the purpose
That crucifies your mind
So con, convince your mirror
As you've always done before
Giving substance to shadows
Giving substance ever more
And you assume you got something to offer
Secrets shiny and new
But how much of you is repetition
That you didn't whisper to him too
A banshee cries out in the night,
A fire casts its burning light
The sidhe dance upon the windy moor,
singing their ancient songs of lore
Blood-red snow below our feet,
The rope swings above our head
Soon our ancestors we shall meet,
We are swinging, swinging, we are dead.
Ravens flock though the air,
flying willy-nilly, without a care
The lone wolf howls it haunting song,
A final call, and then it's gone.
Is Prose allowed in this forum? I'd love to share something I had written years ago, entitled "I am the Fallen"
I stand alone on the planes of War.
The broken shields and broken bodies of my comrades lie in ruin.
Here now lies Aetheris, a Shield Maiden of Tyr. A joy to behold in life, and a sorrow to see in death. Her faith and will was her sword of shield, as she slung spell after spell at her adverseries. Only when a blade plunged into her back did they cease, and did she fall to her knees and die.
I kneel down and trace a Rune into the air above the fallen maiden. "Goodbye m'anam agus mo chroi" I whisper, before igniting the rune above her, cremating the remains of my fallen beloved.
I stand up, and watch as the ashes fly upon the winds of Borealis. My face is devoid of any emotion, my heart shattered beyond repair. I feel a hand on my back and a kiss upon my bare shoulder. I turn back, and see that no-one is there. Only then do i smile, and look up to the Heavens where I shall soon be.
Pulling my cloak further onto my bare back, i sling rune after rune at my Fallen brethren, sending them to the After-life with a sad sense of goodbye.
I come to one of the last. My brother, Trsiel ab Cumhail, Necro-Mage of Soliaris. A summoner of the angry dead, he was. The herald who would send them beyond the pale when they had done their chore, when they had flung themselves at our enemies and feasted on the very marrow of their bones hungrily.
His spellcraft was silenced in a bolt of blue energy. While we had fought, he had suffered and finally died by the wounds from the blue flames.
I hold his charred hand and fill my emotions demand control. My older brother, 10 winters above my own 23, now laid dying. The man who had held me from birth, the man who had cared for me when our parents had passed away, was now out of my life.
I was not able to bring myself to ignite his remains.. there was no strength. I gaze deep into his empty eyes, the lonliness becoming suffocatingly unbearable.
He was the second-to-last of the Fallen Ones.
I slide a dagger from a sheath on my arm, and gaze at the wickedly sharp blade in thought. My heart pounds, not in fear, but in anticipation. With one last look at the fields where we died, one last look to the oceans where we used to fish in and swim in as children, i tilt my head to the sky and smile as I see the souls of my brothers, my sisters, and my lovers waiting for me with a smile.
I press the blade to my throat, and take one last breath. A single shudder runs through my body. My eyes close, and with one quick motion, my neck is torn by the dagger, from earlobe to earlobe.
There is no pain.. I muster a smile as i feel the beginnings of my death.
I lay beside my brother, and feel the exhaustion come over me. I close my eyes on final time, and hear my own death rattle.
Now I am soaring above the clouds, the wind runs through my soul, and I laugh in pleasure of feeling so weightless, free of my mortal shell. Trsiel and Aetheris rush to greet me with kisses and pats on the back, my little sister, only 13 winters old, but an incredible Blade Dancer rushes me and embraces me.
We stop, and I look back. A spell slips from my lips and i feel the fire surge through my veins. We smile as i gesture to my dead body, and my brothers dead body. We ignite in flames. We whisper a farewell as the ashes are carried away on the Arcadian Winds, and soon, are gone.
We fade away, into the afterlife.
I was the last, I am the Fallen
Grasp what you can.
A daring wind is not silent.
It cracks the sand
and blisters your skin.
A blue sky awakens
a shy story never told.
Hands are steady
while quietly shivering.
Did you really know,
if you bite your lips,
they will bleed
and the blood is red.
A dry desert can have an oasis
or a concern out of dryness’s spite
with a lifeless ambition
wasted in sorry.
The wind however
feels its way
and can quietly push you
as it blows at your back.
Come a little bit this way
apart from your sights path
because a striking appearance
is just that a lure in repose.
Watch the ant walk by
and while the heat is hard
it walks coolly
as the sun bathes in the wind.
While others may protest and complain about the strong capitalist taxonomy.
I realize that I must continue the fight for pursuit of happiness, life, and liberty.
I know the time has come, when I as one must choose my own destiny.
Though many young and old have always told of American patriotic harmony.
Can I be bold and join the ranks of American loyalists if I tremble endlessly.
Yes, I can, because I am an honorable man, a reliable source of dependability.
The day draws near, when I must shed my fear, and select my future very wisely.
The path I take for my fate is one where I must aspire to achieve concisely.
For I stand tall with flag-wavers all, who respect and honor our freedoms fervently.
No better land, can be found in this world, where people live so magnanimously.
So generous, kind, and forgiving that all may live as they desire respectfully.
This American man, born of this land, whose mother and father taught honestly.
I will stand strong with unselfish thought and protect everyone in this land of fidelity.
Because I am an American fighting man who knows that freedom requires loyalty.
I choose to be proud of my American vow to fight for the freedoms so reverently.
Now years have come and gone, but the freedom battle continues to always sway.
I stand my post proud and strong, I pledge to preserve and protect each and every day.
I live for peace but know it may never come regardless of my prayers and commands.
Therefore, I will always be completely prepared for the confronted situational demands.
When we make love she moans softly
and cries .......squeals and then goes silent
Yet I know I've done the best I can
when she doesn't project much violence
Shes an amazon she stands seven foot
two and a half
And she beats me like a red headed stepchild
often causing her to laugh
What can I do ...WHAT CAN I DO
she won't even turn me loose
She demands more than I can give
why's is she soo obtuse?

Is there a poetry forum already on Hubpages where we can share each other's work and get feedback?
by Angel_In_Disguise 13 years ago
Hey I am new to this, I would be really thankful if you could all read my two new hubs and follow me... let me know what you think... there is more to come ! Thank you

..which has been an interesting discovery for me. They have interesting content and perspectives. But they seldom come upfront. What are your thoughts. No, not yours. I'm asking the interesting people!

Do you write poetry because some divine inspiration strikes you — or do you write poetry like the art of cooking: Better yet, do you compose poetry following mathematical formulae and equations? I ask this because HubPages is increasingly becoming like a global village of poets. What do you think,...
