Panda Perpetration Weekend approaches... It continues to think... It continues to decide... Who lives? Who dies? The literal world awaits...

    Philosophical and other thoughts welcome.

With apologies to Lynne Truss, we're waiting to see where the comma falls for this particular Panda update: "Eats Shoots and Leaves" or "Eats, Shoots and Leaves."

(Actually, this hype intrigues me. Google has announced 24(?) Panda updates so far, but usually doesn't give much or any advanced notice, just a Tweet and/or blog post when the update's rolled out. But because this was announced at SMXWest -- or was it just Matt Cutts responding to somebody's question, not a formal announcement? -- it's getting a lot of buildup. I understand he said this would be an algorithm adjustment, as opposed to just a data refresh, and that it's double scary with the mention of Penguin being adjusted at the same time. Still, we've had several Panda algorithm changes before, none with much fanfare or discussion on this forum. It seems that a week's advanced warning gives people more time to think about it.)

Aw, come on, Greekgeek - you're taking all the fun out of it.  Of course it's "Eats, Shoots and Leaves." - how else can we get our excitement?

Besides, maybe we'll all see a quadrupling of our traffic by next Tuesday...smile

The "doctor" is telling the "patient", "Now this one is going to really hurt..."

Don't panic and carry a towel.

Also, read yesterday's post on Search Engine Land re: Panda Everflux and you may feel slightly less doomed.  It may also explain why it was announced ahead of time.

I agree with Marcy Hal is watching. I will just try to duck and cover.

Is that "Don't panic, and carry a towel" or "Don't panic and carry a towel" ??

I read the Search Engine Land thing & listened to the brief clip.  Sounds like integrating Panda into their ongoing churning will result in slow death rather than the quick, Karate-chop strikes?

    Oh good. Lingering pain . . .

I wonder if it will make it a more responsive thing.  Edit page and see some quicker results.  If only Matt Cutts could stop pretending he knows stuff by only issuing cryptic comments.
