Need Help... Want to avoid ban.

   I wrote a hub recently about MS drug trial results. A lot of it was flagged for being 'duplicate'. I tried my best to quote the exact texts appearing in the article, and re-word the data that I reported, that was taken from several other sources. There really was no other way to put the majority of the article without being flagged as 'duplicate' as it was about three drug trials (two completed and one recruiting).
   
   I fear, since re-submitting I will be banned if it is flagged again. I take fault in not noticing that if I resubmit and is flagged again, I would be banned. Is there anyone to explain the situation to on the inside of Hub Pages? Or any help in resolving this issue. I do not want to delete the whole article, as I feel it important information that needs to get 'out there'.
   
   Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

      Don't try to avoid a ban...Embrace it! It's part of the thrill of flirting with disaster...You just have to be diplomatic about bending the rules...or insulting people's intelligence.
      I try to be cryptic and obtuse and you use lots of big words I don't understand like cryptic and obtuse. Then people will get the false impression that you're brilliant but in angst[see how I threw that in there?]and worth getting to know.

   This is from the learning center about why you would get a duplicate content flag.
   
   "If you receive an email stating that your Hub has been spotted as having duplicate content, it means that your Hub contains text that also appears on another site or Hub, or is substantially similar or closely paraphrased from another work, or works. "
   "Text copied from multiple sources. Cutting and pasting content, even from a variety of sites is prohibited. Hubs need to be written in your own words, just like academic works.
   Substantial similarity to another work
   Please note that the issue of duplicate content is completely separate from issues of plagiarism or copyright. All that it means is that we found text very similar to what is contained in this Hub elsewhere on the Web."
   
   Even if you are "rewording what you found" elsewhere, that isn't in your own words. If you think the article is relevant and important to your hub, quote only a small portion like a line or two- in your own words- and then link to the article in the text.

   Also, you won't necessarily get banned if it still isn't revised correctly, you will just not get it republished and will receive another flag/email. However, if you continually do this same thing with your hubs, then yeah-you might get banned,

   That actually helped a lot. Perhaps I should just scrap the hub and leave it for my blog. I have many other topics to put on HubPages, this one just seems not to fit with their TOS.
   
   It's no big deal I guess. I just didn't want to get banned over it.

   The reason for this is that it lowers views to your hub and is frowned on by Google.
   
   If you Googled a topic and the first five pages that came up were the exact same articles, how would you feel? Obviously Google wants to give the searcher what they want, and the search doesn't want to read the same thing five times - they want to read five different things which give different perspectives or add new ideas and don't waste their time.

   Hey Chris,
   I think you could teach us all a lot about MS, and it is a very worthy niche topic. MS sneaks up and smacks a lot of people unexpectedly, and when it does the first place they're going to look is on the internet. You might not get many hubbers hitting your page but I suspect there could potentially be a lot of traffic coming to you from google and other search engines. I think your success will come from creating headings that are the most likely to be asked by MS sufferers (particularly the recently diagnosed) so don't get discouraged.
   
   I currently have two of your MS hubs open and will comment on them, but here's some separate feedback to address your current problem.
   
   I suspect your hubs are a bit too short. If you write more on each one, they will score better. You would also benefit from breaking them into separate text capsules. I can't give you a direct link without getting into trouble, but if you go to my profile page (clicking my name in the top of this post) you'll find a hub I wrote about getting hubs past the 'pending' stage.
   
   You could try writing more of your own experience within the MS test hub - for instance, whether or not you would be interested in participating in tests ... what the possible outcome might be for MS sufferers ... how frustrating it is to suffer a condition that has no clearly defined cause, cure etc.   By making the hub longer, you will reduce the percentage of content that seems to be duplicated.
   
   May I suggest that you copy and paste everything you wrote in your Round Up hub into a Word document (so you don't lose it because it is all good) and then start that hub again.  Delete the whole hub and start fresh with the title "Is Round Up linked to MS?" or "Does Round Up cause MS?" (That's the type of specific question people would be googling.)
   
   The reason why I suggest you delete and start again instead of just editing the existing hub is that the first title you put in will remain in the 'address' for that page.  So, the address for that page is currently "Your name at hubpages/hub/RoudUP-could-be-linked-to-MS-Sounds-like-psudeoscience-when-you-look-closer" but you want something more concise and specific for the search engines. (Also, the N is missing in Round, so you want to correct that typo.)
   
   I hope that hubbing ultimately becomes a successful income source for you. In theory it is a great way for someone with MS to make money without exerting too much unnecessary effort. You just need to start thinking 'hub' as opposed to 'blog'.
   
   You'll get the hang of it. BTW, if you are really stuck with your hub about MS tests, copy and paste the existing words you are having trouble rewriting and send them in an email to me. (Email links are found in the top corner when you go to someone's profile page and then click on fanmail.) I have the utmost respect for anyone living with MS and will happily help reword the offending sections and give you a few hints about how you could get that topic up as a hub.
   
   Don't stress about your experience so far.  You are not going to be banned ... you have way too much good info to share with us all.  You just have to get your head around how the process works.  That's not too hard ... When in doubt, ask another question on the forum.
