I'm almost sure that Google never texts their customers about their profiles being compromised but I would like to verify this fact. I received this message two minutes ago and it says: "Your profile has been compromised. Text back READY when you are able to verify your profile." Can someone help me? Need some advice if you please. Thanks! big_smile

    Hi, writinglover,
I recently changed my password on Yahoo for my iPad and then a yahoo locked my account for thinking my account had been compromised,
They sent mr a re-activation notice and an email like yours--which all it means is you click on the link if they sent to prove you are you.
    Stupid, right?
Oh, did you get my email?

There is a difference between getting one of those emails when you request it, and getting one out of the blue.

If you get an email from anyone - bank, Yahoo, Google, anybody - asking you to click to confirm your identity, don't click on it.  Open another screen and go to your account manually.  If you can log in and everything looks fine, you'll know the request was a scam.  If you can't, you may find there is a message telling you what to do.  Clicking the email link should be a last resort.

It's tough because they can look very convincing, and the site they send you to looks exactly like the real thing.  So you enter your name and password and bingo, you've just given access to your account to a spammer.

        Hi, Marisa!

I took your advice and manually opened another window to check my Gmail account and everything is all good and well! Again, thanks! smile

      Hi, Kenny!

Thanks for telling me about your experience! Yes, I did receive your e-mail and I sent one back. If you didn't, well I pretty much asked what you were apologizing for since you did nothing wrong. That's all! big_smile

Oh, I was apologizing to you (and cantuhearmescream) for any confusion I might have started about my hub that (then) didn't get comments, but thank you, dear, for your sweet spirit.
Now I want . . .uh, oh! India needs me! Awwwwaaayyyy! smile

Yours might be a scam but mine wasn't. When I followed Yahoos link my password was active.
I feel very stupid because my advice to you, wrtinglover, wasn't as good as Marisa's.
      So sorry.

        Hi, Kenny!

No need to feel stupid! I've done what you did before because I forgot my password on different occasions. It was all well and good when I got it straightened out. big_smile

Google DOES send you text message but ONLY after you change a password or make other changes.  If you get one for no reason, delete it!

      Dear, Desr writinglover,
Thank you do much. Oh, last week she brought some whips and black costumes to her place and I sensed she was angry.
I made a faux pa when I said, "been to a yard sale, Lois?" Then her eyes turned red and well . . . I flew out of there.
You are a true WONDER of a young woman for doing this for me smile

No matter who the email seems to be from, go to your account online and sign in to do anything. Don't respond to emails.
