   I never thought, in a thousand years, a topic like this would be under the category of Politics and Social issues. I am not sure why this never occurred to me. A couple of thousand years ago a baby was born during a taxation event.  Everyone had to pay taxes, nobody was exempt.  Then  kings from far away countries came and asked the king of Judah where the new king of the Jews was, so they could worship him. That didn't set well with the king, so he had every baby two years old and younger, in Bethlehem,  killed.  The baby in question was taken to Egypt before this happened, with the help of the gifts the foreign kings had given his parents. After a while the child was taken back to his parents hometown North of Jerusalem. He worked as a carpenter, and then he got embroiled with some radicals and they killed him. So, tell me why it surprised me Christ should be in the center of a political brouhaha. I shouldn't.  That's it.  God who sent his son to earth to forgive mankind  was all too familiar with men to be blown over by the controversies not then not now.

            Well, except for the spin...it was actually the radical preacher, tearing down church doors, preaching heresy and disobedience and such, that was killed by the staid, old fashioned establishment.

      So, if it's totally true that the wise men visited Jesus...why does only Matthew talk about it? You'd think Luke and John would have mentioned it, too.
      
      Mark's not invited, because he's a slacker who didn't cover Jesus' birth.

         If you ask 3 people to give an eye witness account of what they saw, would you be suspicious if they all said exactly the same thing?   
         Years ago while walking my baby to meet my husband at school.  A crash happened on the street between us.  We were questioned by police separately.  When we compared notes, I had the colors of the cars different than my husband.
         We were both eye witnesses, but we told very different stories of what we saw. Me: from the perspective of this car is coming straight at me and my little boy.  My husband from there is an accident happening,. Oh NO! They are heading toward my family! 
         
         I believe you can find historical evidence in Joscephus writing. There was lots written about Harrod The Terrible.

            A very well known and documented attribute of witnesses.
            
            One that I would not expect to see in a book directed and inspired by God, that is denoted as the Word of God and thus without fault.
