Atheism is a psychological construct of those who doubt nature; not a reality

Atheism: A lack of belief in a god that cannot be shown to exist.

Sounds more like reality than anything else to me!  One might call it a lack of imagination or even a strong desire for truth, but it doesn't make it unreal.

Reality exists irrespective of whether man exists or not.

wildernessposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Very good!  And it exists, as is, no matter what man may or may not believe.  All the imaginings of man added together will not produce even one small god out there somewhere in the real world.  Only within the minds of those wishing it to the point of accepting imagination as truth.

How is atheism a psychological construct of those who doubt nature? What nature? Please elaborate.

      Or

Theism is a psychological construct of those who fear the unknown; not a reality.

Statements like these are easy to make.

All doubts of the Atheists Agnostics cannot cause a thing to exist or to non-exist.

    1. wilderness profile image95
wildernessposted 10 years agoin reply to this

True.  And neither can the desires, wants or imaginings of the theists.

Things either exist or do not, irregardless of what man thinks.  Your point?

Likewise, all the beliefs of all the children in the world can't make Santa actually exist.

Seriously, everything you say work in reverse, and probably more effectively in reverse than in the way you are stating it.

Hey, now!  I just helped my grand daughter write a letter to Santa (on facebook, so all can see it smile ).  I certainly hope there is a Santa because I sure can't provide her pet unicorn myself!

Actually, Wilderness, I think you are exactly where you need to be with that request.  I know Julie, Rory and Ed have all mentioned having dragons.   If memory serves, there has also been talk of unicorns, (with leprechaun jockeys no less).  Someone here should at least be able to give you a lead on getting one.

Well, if Santa isn't going to provide, I sure hope so.  And, now that you mention it, the grandson requested a dragon, so I really do need help.

I actually purchased both a unicorn (pink) and a dragon for Christmas this year. Honestly. They are fluffy (the adjective, not the name) and talk. They go into little plush castles that also talk.

that's ridiculous.  Castles don't talk.  Don't be silly.  Surely you jest.

These castles talk... well they snore actually. It's all very plush and soft and sleepiness. Any toy designed to facilitate sleep, I'm all for. Really, shut up and take my money, kinda all for.

Well, if it isn't your dragon, it is Julie's dragon, Fluffy, which you harbor in your garage sometimes...right?

Speaking of which, has anyone seen...er....noticed fluffy?  She's been missing for awhile, and it's getting colder out and I'm going to Maine in January.  I could use the heat.

This is concerning.  If an invisible dragon in your garage passes on...I can't even go there.  I hope Fluffy is well.  Deepes?

I think so. All I saw was my son sitting on thin air and flying in a weird pattern so I had to assume that my son is a superhero or I'm extremely drunk (but I don't drink). That was until I smelled the sulphur. Then I put two and two together

Ok, "atheism is a psychological construct of doubt ; not a reality". I'll agree with that.

But, by the same token, "Theism is a psychological ideation ; not a reality".

What is real cannot be threatened. What is false, therefore, does not exist, except in the minds of the deluded.

Belief in One-True-God Allah Yahweh is very natural and is a reality; yet those who very unnaturally doubt it they are in no compulsion to believe it.

        1. wilderness profile image95
wildernessposted 10 years agoin reply to this

As only a quite small percentage of people throughout the history of mankind have expressed a belief in Allah (and even fewer actually had such a belief), it doesn't seem very "natural", does it?

          1. profile image51
paarsurreyposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Natural is that what exists irrespective of humans believing or not believing and their numbers.

            1. wilderness profile image95
wildernessposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Ah.  Then both Allah and God are very unnatural as neither actually exists.

Why did you say the one was natural?

And why would you say that "Belief in One-True-God Allah Yahweh is very natural" if "natural" is irrespective of belief?

        2. EncephaloiDead profile image54
EncephaloiDeadposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Not quite, believing in gods is very natural as you say, but doubting is also very natural and so is having or not a compulsion to believe or not believe, they are all equally natural.

Just as it is natural to want others to share and accept your beliefs.

        1. JMcFarland profile image68
JMcFarlandposted 10 years agoin reply to this

no.  Not all atheists are skeptics.  Some atheists believe ridiculous things with no good reason.  In other words, they have faith.

So the Theists and the Atheists both are faith based.

No. .. just atheists that believe something without a good reason and without evidence.  That's what faith is.  Not all atheists are identical,  just like not all theists are identical.  Skepticism and atheism are not the same.  I wish they were.

They could be described that way based on descriptions and definitions that include the word faith. Theism is based entirely on a faith in gods and their existence while atheism is a complete lack of that faith.
