NEED SOME GOALS does not display for poems or HubPages video Hubs

   What happened to my little blue tip box I have become so attached to? I let me know how many words I had, if an image was not clear enough, and let me know when my hub was presentable and ready to publish.

            I know what you mean Phyllis. The photos, (etc.) I have to count them myself, I get warnings if they are 'out of focus' but the words I write on Word and it gives me a word count, so that helps.

               Hi Kevin. I write all my hubs in Google Docs, which is excellent. It gives me word count and catches any spelling or grammar errors I missed. It is easy to edit and format for my hubs.  Then, when I start a hub on HP it is basically ready for publication. Yet, I still like the tip box because it keeps  me aware of HP standards, shows the word count (which includes captions on images, so the word count is different than my Google doc draft), lets me know when I have reached HP goals for a stellar hub, etc. Anther important thing it does is to let me know if my images are not of good resolution, so I can go back to the site I found the image and choose a higher resolution to work with, and it gives me tips to help me create a high quality hub.
               
               I know the standard requirements for good quality on HP, but, the tip box keeps me alert -- since sometimes I am either in a hurry to publish or  really tired (it takes me a good six hours or more to write and format a hub), so I check the tip box before hitting the publish button, just to assure all is well.

      Is this the information to which you are referring in the HubTool?
      
      
      It should show up when you are editing and once you have entered content into the capsules.  It will not show for a blank/new Hub even if you use a template, until content has been added.
      
      I just double checked and it is working in Firefox in Windows.

         Yes, that is exactly what I mean, Mathew.  However, the last several hubs I have started or tried to edit does not have that tool.
         
         I am wondering now -- I still have Windows XP because I cannot yet afford a new computer with Windows 7 or greater. Could this be causing some issue with my HP tools, etc? My browser is Firefox.

            It could be related to your browser.
            What version of Firefox are you using?
            Does clearing your browser cache in Firefox have any effect?
            Make sure to check to see if there is an upgrade available for Firefox.

            Are you seeing the tips on some Hubs, but not on others?
            If so, can you share title and/or URLs for both?

               I am sorry for the delay in responding, Matthew. My version of Firefox is 28.0. I cleared cache and updated Firefox and then my computer crashed. I have some stuff on my computer now that I did not have before and the computer is running very slowly. I have to go in and uninstall some things, but I am not sure what to uninstall yet. I have
               Advanced  System Protector that was scanning and it is hard to get rid of because I cannot find it in my programs add/remove list. I also now have Browser Safeguard I cannot find in the list.
               
               I have to leave for a doctor appt, so need to shut down and come back later to try and resolve this issue. Thank you for your time, Matthew.

                     Thank you, Kevin. I had to shut down till after my doctor appt. When I came back, I removed BrowserSafeGuard and a few other extensions then shut down again.

                        I knew about your doctor. I just became curious what that safeguard was because that happened to me a while back. I updated my Avast and something else appeared which turned out to be a virus.

               I found out that my computer cannot take any updates for some reason. That has never been a problem before. I tried to update Firefox, got some extensions I did not need, including a Malware ( BrowserSafeGurd). I had to restore system to earlier date and computer is working well now.

                  Such examples can be very helpful and save time in asking follow up questions.
                  
                  Now that I can see the categorization for these Hubs, I have an explanation.
                  
                  The "Need some goals" section does not show for Hubs classified as poetry or for HubPages Video Hubs (where the video is hosted on HubPages). This is why your poem does not have the Goals box and the other Hub does.

            Matthew was correct Phyllis. This morning I checked a new Hub which only has a title. After I read his post I entered a different Hub into edit and the box was there.
            My browser is Chrome - have you tried that one?

      I hope it comes back, Alastar. I am not against change, for changes create challenges which I really like to work with -- challenges can help one to grow, I think. As I said to Jodah, maybe HP thinks I have progressed far enough that I do not need any tips, hahaha.  I am so looking forward to the exciting thing.

   I'm not sure what you mean, but if you go to edit a hub, the there is still the box on the right hand of the screen that shows how many words, pics, etc, that you have in the hub.

   I notice when choose creative writing topics that the tip box doesnt always show up. I never see that happen when I do other hubs.
