WASHINGTON (AP) — The leader of the U.S. House of Representatives said Wednesday the Republican-controlled House will file an election-year lawsuit accusing President Barack Obama of failing to carry out the laws passed by Congress.
"This is about defending the institution in which we serve," he said. "What we've seen clearly over the last five years is an effort to erode the power of the legislative branch."

Is this going too far or are they justified in their actions?

Whether one agrees with Speaker Boehner, or not, it is clear that the United States Supreme Court may and just proffered a ruling with significant importance to his efforts.

You make a good point, and just like the various pundit perspectives, that ruling can be taken as a semi-win for either side.

Should we see a problem in the fact that the court decided to rule so narrowly? Or that the Republican's "technical" machinations to thwart the president were the basis of the court's decision?

I think the court's limited ruling was correct, but I also think it is a sad state of affairs that the situation even existed to be adjudicated in the first place.

But this is nothing new. Politics has always been a game - and a nasty one too, but with our technological advances in instant communications and awareness, it seems to be reaching levels of sophistication that go beyond petty self-interest to possibly nation damaging consequences.

You pose a good question, and it should prove fodder for some interesting discussions.

For instance; I agree with Boehner's  frustration, and many of his contentions, but my gut tells me this is an extremely disastrous move for Americans. Like the Clinton impeachment debacle or the OJ Simpson trial.

I will gather my thoughts and flesh-out my opinion with some specifics as the discussion proceeds, but for now, it just doesn't "feel" right. It feels like our representatives are "throwing in the towel" and not doing their job.

At the very least of this is that the GOP is keeping its promise to the American people. Obstruct the President on every possible issue.

I do not believe the House goes to far here, as a matter of fact it should be the beginning of impeachment hearings for, among other things treason. We are in a stated war with an enemy that has sworn to destroy us. The President provides aid to them, to the stated enemy, by returning five top level commanders to enhance and continue their war against us. This is treason,  not incompetence, not compassion for   a  deserter. Giving aid to the enemy in a time of war is defined as treason.

Totally agree with Speaker Boehner.   Mr. Boehner is correct in suing Obama.  Obama believes that he is above the law.  Obama is acting more as a dictator than a president.    Obama disregards the Constitution, even disrespecting and discounting it.  Speaker Boehner is sick of Obama and his running over the Congress.  The President is supposed to work with Congress(there are exceptions to this) not to usurp Congress.    However, Obama fails to realize this.

Hopefully, Mr. Boehner will go through with the suit and possibly move to impeach this Obumler!  Mr. Boehner knows that Obama is ruining this country and is acting before it is too late.   Mr. Boehner is our Claus Von Stauffenberg but not to that extreme.  Obama is further destroying the country with Obama"care" and now with the illegals.  Now to step out and take proceedings against Obama.  Couldn't be happier with Boehner; Mr. Boehner has my PROFOUND respect.   Obama is making America a toilet, reducing America to the lowest common denominator!  By the time Obama finishes with America, we won't recognize her........for the VERY WORST!   America is becoming a third world nation.  Boehner, DO IT, Obama has to be TAKEN TO TASK!

Considering how low their approval ratings are, I don't think they really have any room to talk.

My first response was to laugh at the truth of your comment. You know, the pot calling the kettle black kinda thing.

But step back a minute... what is Boehner's action really saying? Partisan gridlock has hobbled the process, or party control has subverted it?
