calling Conservatives

   This thread is in homage to the great, illustrious hubbers Old Poolman, breakfastpop, pollyannalana, WillStarr, Joshua-C-Rarrick, and Wayne Brown. Each of these hubbers have presented practical and realistic intelligence regarding the current American scenario which is to be applauded.
   
   To Conservatives out there, what in the heck happened to  America?  It is no longer recognizable! Aren't you sick of what America is becoming?

      Too late. The America that was founded by George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, et al has been gone for decades. The damages have been adopted as routine practices and liberty, as they understood it, is long dead. We accept the progressive income tax; Social Security,; the innumerable Departments and agencies; and massive regulation; states continually reduced authority; incredible transfers of wealth; decades long Congressional terms: interventionist, aggressive federal courts bent on creating their own reality as the Best of All Possible governments.
      
      A reestablishment of the Revolutionary spirit is impossible to achieve in a country where nearly half of the country depends on property taken from their fellow citizens. There will be no revival of America so long as Americans believe that they have a right to demand ever more property be transferred from one citizen to another. America is finished because Americans have killed it.
      
      Insurance premiums are soaring, WHY? It is very simple. Our government has decided that everyone must pay for everyone else's medical care. I as a 50+ year old man am FORCED by the government to pay for Pediatric dental care and Maternity care - products I have no need or desire for.  WHY? From where does the government derive the authority to FORCE one citizen to purchase something for which he has no use? From where does the government derive the authority to FORCE one citizen to purchase something for another citizen?
      
      This practice of government FORCE is nothing new and it has been willingly accepted by Americans for decades. Any direct transfer of property from one citizen to another citizen is bad enough, but we are expert practitioners of transferring massive amounts of property from citizens to illegal aliens.
      
      All of these things are not only acceptable but wildly defended by "progressives." One may accept the absurd notion that there is no difference between conservative and liberal, but what conservative idea has lead to the ruination of liberty that is the social welfare state? What conservative idea has lead to the crony capitalism that picks winners and losers among businesses? What conservative idea has ever supported the enriching of members of Congress because they have prior knowledge of legislation that affect the stock value of certain businesses or the market value of certain parcels of land?
      
      One may pretend that all parties are to blame when it is two Parties and those who blindly reward them with plenary authority, who are to blame. Sure Republicans have chipped away at liberty and prosperity with their passivity and cowardice, but they are pikers compared to the Democrats with their massive destruction of whole sectors of the economy and society with their proto-facist economics and their chaotic and ridiculous social policies.
      
      Blame whom ever you wish, I for one am laying in supplies and hunkering down for the next Dark Age. Pax Americana is done, Obama killed it.

         I invite conservatives with your mindset to find your respective caves to scurry off to. The founding fathers' vision was not sustainable for the reality of the passage of time . Conservative love to talk about an 18th century model like it can really be reproduced and used today, never acknowledging the simple premise that time changes space.  Even the most far sighted knew that. Where is this world you frequently reminisce about? When has it ever been, or how could it ever be?  Would you revert to powdered wigs and knee breeches? I am taxed by the municipal government to help support public schools, I have no children, why do I have to pay this? You guys will pay taxes for one side of the road but call it socialism to have to pay for the other side of the median, because you don't use it.
         
         If the rightwingers  don't heel the revolution you talk about will be much akin to the "French" one. You blame Obama for a trend that has been on going for a century, well I blame laissez-faire capitalism, J.P. Morgan, and Ronald Reagan.
         
         Truly, outside of going to Mars and starting a colony to start all over, what is your solution? What you propose is simply not going to happen and I think that you have already acknowledged that

               Yeah, according to the Mr. Right  Obama is the devil incarnate. Who says I have to pay taxes for a military industrial complex gone amuck? I guess we all have aspects of government spending we can pick a bone about. Moving beyond the hunter-gathering epoch of human history, I would like to think that we have moved to a more evolved sensitivity as to what is actually going on.

            Maybe the most progressive thing would be to dissolve all states and state governments, dissolve congress and anoint Obama Il Duce with plenary authority since the democratic, representative,  constitutionally limited government is such an antiquated notion.

      The problem is within your question. "To Conservatives out there". All this does is continue an argument for those of one ideology to demonize another and accept no ground in between. It is the basis for bias to be entered into any conversation and become the impossible hurdle to reach any agreement. As long as we have this divide you will see close elections swing either way with little differential numbers and no change. The slime bags on the Hill just love this as they are not purposed to achieve or do anything to change it. Why should they, life is good where they stand now.

   Good points, GM. But I don't buy into the Left-Right, Liberal-Conservative paradigm anymore.
   
   Sure, there is a little "truth" to the labeling, but only a little. There's also a lot of dead weight lies to it, too.
   
   The only real party in America anymore is the Corporate Party. Both Bush and Obama worked for Wall Street.
   
   Just look at the real issues -- the ones important to Wall Street. Both fake parties are the same on those issues:
   * Larger government
   * More wars
   * More spending
   * More tyranny (shredding the Constitution and Bill of Rights)
   
   I think Ron Paul had the right idea, but he was in a lose-lose situation by trying to go republican. The Corporate Party owns the media, so they frequently wouldn't even mention his name, even when he was second or third in the running. His delegates were ignored at the convention, votes from the floor were ignored in favor of the script, and some delegates against draconian changes within the party were kidnapped by their bus driver (driving around the block until the voting was done).
   
   Dr. Paul wanted to,
   * Slash government spending
   * Pull back all military to American soil
   * Close all overseas military bases
   * Eliminate the private Federal Reserve banks and have Congress take responsibility for the money once again
   * Eliminate personal income tax completely, boosting the economy with more discretionary income in the hands of individuals
   * Close most bureaucracies not mentioned in the founding documents
   
   Of course, such changes should be done over time to keep some stability, but some of the changes could've been made immediately with dramatic and positive results.
   
   America has been co-opted by the Corporate Party for its selfish purposes. Elections are no longer free and open. Voting machines have been hacked and votes ignored, lost or changed.
   
   9/11 was an inside job. The proof of this is so blatantly obvious, now. Like WTC7, the third building to collapse on that day, fell at perfect free fall for the first 8 floors. Yet, solid steel never offers zero resistance. NIST scientists defrauded the world by ignoring that glaring fact, pretending that office fires can cause a straight-down collapse of a steel frame skyscraper. That's like chopping a tree on the side and seeing it collapse straight down into a pile of sawdust. Only in cartoons and government reports.
   
   If a Corporate Party-run government can participate in the murder of its own citizens so the Military Industrial Complex can have $Billion$ in contracts, then America is truly lost. And it is.
   
   Can we get it back? We can, but we need far more than politics and protests.

      Yes, we need people to wake up and proclaim the truth of what we want in America.
      What do we want?
      1. A safe homeland with a percolating economy.
      2. The rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and a government understanding how to guarantee these rights.
      3. Politicians willing to once again work for WE, the people.
      
      
      Is that too much to ask for?
      No.
      
      Vote wisely…and anything else, lone77star? What is the "far more" you mention?

   If one looks at the polls of this elections [local , state]you will see clearly that Americans have spoken clearly and concisely , enough is enough seems to be the message .  I just saw a chart that shows how the lower levels of  the representative  core of local governing legislators has changed .  State reps. etc. it ,  I believe its pretty clear that  there is truly one America , right or left ! It seems most Americans favor  less  of a controlling  central government in their lives . That makes me realize that ,basically right or left , we are one . Reassuring is the feeling I get .
