Heads up to those applying for an AdSense account! After publishing about 10 hubs I applied for an AdSense Account and was declined due to the standard lack of content. After publishing 16 hubs, I reapplied and was hit with with the following warning as I was about to leave the HP site and goto the AdSense site:
"It appears that your Google AdSense Account, with the publisher id xxxxx is no longer associated with HubPages. Your application may have been rejected by Google, you may have refused the association with www.hubpages.com through the AdSense Third Party Access Page, or your previosuly approved account may have been disabled due to violations of the Google AdSense Terms and Conditions. You should not apply again, as each person is only allowed to have a single Google AdSense Account. Please review Google's Disabled Account FAQ for further steps that you might take. If you have simply refused the association, you may be able to change that on the Google AdSense - Third Party Access page or by clicking "Next" below."
The whole "you should not apply again" part did not make me feel so good. Anyway, after going through all of HP and Google's Terms of Service and Policies and such - great reading fun indeed! - it appeared that my re-application was being blocked due to having since published one hub about manual breast pumps that had ads disabled due to possible content violations.
When you publish a hub that has potentially offensive material, HP may still feature the hub, as was the case here, but disable ads to protect advertising partners. All very well and understandable, but from Google's point of view, the disabling of ads on my one hub had the effect of flagging my entire account as being in violation of Google's TOS and blocking my AdSense application.
So, the point is: Watch out for any of your hubs having ads disabled due to possible content violations as this will effect your entire account and possibly any associated websites or accounts with Google AdSense.
I ended up having to contact HP and ask them to review and moderate the one hub in question - which, to their credit, they promptly did and re-enabled the ads feature - and then reapply to AdSense. It seems to have worked as my re-application was successful.
Either way, if a hub of yours has ads disabled, get it rectified immediately as it has enormous impact on your AdSense application and probably your existing AdSense account too.
Thanks for the information. I admire your ability to take on the issue and resolve it. Good luck. I know of others who had ads disabled, and it seems like a fine line can make it or break it.
I will say that you are awesome simply for spending the huge amount of time and effort to come up with the resolution to such an issue. It may well be a topic for you to consider for a hub. I have had great success when I have found solutions to online issues and problems and published about them here or elsewhere. One of my top hubs is about a solution to a browser issue and Windows 7.
Thanks for the research and the information!
Nice information. It sound like a good and correct teaching for all here. But mind the kind of hubs you publish.
Thanks for the info. I'm surprised that you can request Hubpages to moderate your article.
I am so glad you let us know about this. I have not applied for an Adsense account yet and I also have one hub where the ads are disabled, and this is fine and understandable. I am wondering if I disable the ads myself in the edit section, will it still get flagged when I apply?
I am certainly no expert on this and can therefore only speak from my single incident experience, but, when I was hit with this warning, I went back and manually disabled the ads feature on the one hub and it made no difference to the status of my account nor my AdSense application.
It seemed in my case that if HP or the Google bots deemed the content of a hub questionable and ads were disabled, that was it, the entire account was deemed in violation of Google's TOS and it did not matter the status of ad enabling.
See if you can get that hub moderated and ads enabled before you apply for an AdSense account.
I am getting the exact same message but I don't believe anything I have published fits the same category as you detail. I have 13 Hubs and the email I get back says "insufficient content" yet when I link to AdSense through HubPages I get the same message as you. It is confusing. As of now I am hoping I just need to get over the 15-20 post mark and put some time in.
After getting hit with that warning and going through HP's and Google's policies regarding this kind of stuff, it appeared that the vast majority of disabling of AdSense accounts and applications was due to TOS violations of what google termed something along the line of "invalid click activity" meaning that you are clicking on your own AdSense ads, or getting others to erroneously click on them or encouraging clicks via your content.
The second most common reason for account and application suspensions was for copyright infringement. Google had plenty of information regarding account suspensions due to the unauthorized use of copyrighted movies, videos, music, and various other content.
Account suspension for possible offensive or questionable content appeared to be a rarity. If you have no hubs with disabled ads, perhaps Google is potentially picking up on either of these first two cases as reason for application denial.
Glad that your adsense was accepted in the end. Just a question, how long do you recommend waiting to apply for adsense, I know it says 6 months, but if I for example create 20 hubs and wait one month, will that be long enough? Thanks
I've been at this just under 2 months. I was declined two weeks ago with around 10 hubs, just accepted now with 16.
Okay, thanks I will wait until I have around the same amount of hubs to apply for AdSense!
Just be careful in future westcoastwife. I have one hub that had ads disabled and I asked HP to review it which they did and allowed ads. However every time you update or edit that hub you will find ads will probably be disabled again.
How can you tell your ads have been disabled on that hub? I'd like to know what to look out for... Thanks!
Donna, you get a message at the top of your hub advising you that ads have been disabled and that you should review it if you want it reassessed. Also f you have added Amazon and eBay capsules, they will not show up.
Ok, thanks... this info is good to know.

Well, that’s nice, very nice. I haven’t got a clue of what I did wrong. And after filling in the online appeal form they told me they had reviewed my account information, taken my feedback into account, but still had concluded that my AdSense account has posed a significant risk. And I have no idea...

While I link my Adsense account, it directs me to Google, which then asks if I want to accept the association, I say yes, then it directs me back to Hubpages, but it just loads a blank page, nothing comes up. I could not find anything like this in the help section, is there something else I need to...

Awesome. Just awesome. Right when my hubs were starting to take off and I was actually earning daily, this happens.I've never done anything against google's TOS so I've been completely blindsided. I filled out an appeal and google says they'll be back to me in a week. I can't believe google treats...

I set up my Google AdSense account years ago to link to my Hub Pages account. I now wish to use AdSense for other media but I can't remember the email I used to set it up. I tried contacting Google without any success. Can anyone advise me please? Thanks.
