Squids Have NO Style!

   Google's scorecard says Squids have NO style!  Well, that's my loose interpretation of it anyway.  I just had the opportunity to read a previous post from Paul Edmondson regarding site-wide traffic loss, and that was the conclusion.  Oh my, shocking for me to finally be told I have no style.  My tentacles are in quite a tizzy right now…

      Aw, that doesn't bother me a bit. I have never claimed to have style. My grandma used to say that I needed to be refined, and not act like a hillbilly. I told her that refined flour has all of the good stuff taken out, and all that's left is starch and fluff - so, who wants to have style and be refined?
      
      So, if we don't have style, we certainly have passion!

      Well, this Squid had enough style to have a Hub of the Day last week, and have another hub shared on Facebook by a local radio station, to the tune of about 45,000 page views.
      
      Don't judge me by my monster-patterned sweater...

         You may want to reread the article. As I'm reading it, it doesn't say Squids have no style, not in the least. In fact, it asserts that lensmasters coming from Squidoo have a certain style of composing lenses / hubs and suggests that it is the style that is this being targeted by Panda. "...  it is common to see what looks like a site wide change because many authors use a similar style of making Hubs.  I believe this is the case with Squidoo imports.  Many imported accounts [that] share a similar style... ," and "It appears that this Google update is particularly hard on it."
         
         I didn't see that as a negative statement, but rather an assertion of fact. We used the same tools to build lenses on Squidoo, so to a degree there are many similarities in the way the articles are drafted. Though I've seen quite a few attacks aimed directly at Squids from Hubbers (and visa versa), I find no reason to take the statement to be an verbal attack on former squids, or even a snipe at them.
         
         Please forgive me if I misread your actual statement and concern.

            The one that went viral was due to the local radio station's Facebook page. A different hub was chosen HOTD. Two winners in two weeks.

      Google rates HP Hubs with the Red thumbs down button. I would not go by their rating methods.

   I think he was talking about the cookie-cutter articles that were made using the software program that was for sale for making Squidoo articles.  It wrote about 200 words of content and then uploaded 20 or more Amazon products.  There's at least one new account on HP now which has hundreds of those.  Truthfully, many writers on Squidoo complained about that style of article, too.
   
   Paul wasn't talking about every article which came from Squidoo and he was offering an explanation why the newly imported articles were experiencing loss of traffic. 
   
   He did say in that post that he would look at the data and be "back shortly."  That was two weeks ago.  Maybe he'll give an update today.

      It is 3 weeks ago now. I don't think they've figured it out yet, since some of the older accounts on Hubpages aren't doing well either. Google might not like so much similar content.
      
      I know some of mine are hurting, because some of the new Squidoo articles that are on the same topic are outranking mine and some of mine are doing that to theirs. We ended up sharing traffic with each other. The site traffic is down too, so maybe Panda hit us for that too. Who can figure it all out?

      Why would they, when they aren't dealing with the poorly-written, unreadable hubs that existed long before the Squids landed here?
