I have two hubs with red skulls for malicious code warning. My links are to Flickr, Viglink, and other hubs. I cannot get rid of these things.
I've never seen red skulls on any of my hubs. HP does not use those types of symbols. Look at the bottom of your account page for the symbols HP implements.
Do you see red skulls on other hubs or outside sites you visit?
Perhaps you have malware on your computer that's using Halloween symbols. Run a malware check. If that doesn't work, restore your computer to a backup point. That should make it go away. Also, do a full virus scan of your computer. Your red skulls are suspicious. Sounds like hackers are taking advantage of Halloween to sneak into your computer.
Have you clicked to see the exact link being flagged, and ensured it is a short form of the correct link? If so, try rerunning the checker
I have one that I stripped down to 2 amazon products and it still has red skull. The other one, is links to hubs or viglinks. I removed the viglink bitly and replace it with the long version, nothing changed.
The one hub had a bit ly in the report I read which was not even in my hub.
If you go into edit mode You will see the exact link being flagged
That's something new. I just checked my account and see that symbol down in the legend. That's pretty ominous. I wish HP would have alerted us to that and told us what to do about it if it shows up.
If you look at the key you mention, yes HP does use and list a red skull symbol
bravewarrior HP Does use red skulls, Look at the bottom of page where symbols are.
I posted my reply in the wrong spot. I don't know how long the red skull has been there. Since I joined 3 years ago, many changes (often unannounced) have come about. I've never received seen a red skull on any of my hubs.
Have you gone into edit mode to see what type of violation they're citing?
psycheskinner, the only thing left is Amazon capsules and 2 viglinks.
Rather than guess , go into edit mode and tap the black bar to see which link is the problem
Red skulls drive me nuts on the few times I've gotten them. Sometimes, after you make the needed corrections, it may take a few hours for the skulls to go away. Sometimes, not. So, you may be seeing lag time.
Another thing that has bitten me in the behind is links that I thought were gone. For example, I'll delete a link but miss the comma or period, some tiny one character that I just don't see. If I suspect this is the case, I highlight the entire module and hit the link bust button. Then, when the skull is gone, I reinsert any links I want to stay.
I've read some of your stuff before and can't see you being in gross violation of anything. I would look for something small in the morning in case it's just lag.
Matt is working on it. One hub is okay now that I have ruined it. The other one, like you said, had a link hooked to one letter that I could not find, but Matthew did. Removing that has done nothing. No pics, videos, links or products and the warning and skull is still there.
Once all the links were removed, the warning went away after rechecking for violations on the status page.
Normally these warnings re updated every 30 days.
So if you know that the content has been removed, you can ignore the warning. It has no effect on your Hub or profile.
Finally fixed. Now, do I move them so I can have them the way I want them, or take another chance as to whether the skulls show up again or not. Regardless, another red skull, the hub gets moved.
The first thing that I would have done is gone into edit of each link capsule and checked the "Do not show" box. If the skulls disappeared then I would have known it was 1 of the inks. Then one at a time I would have gone back through them and shown them again until it reappeared and I would have known which was the trouble maker. Otherwise it was else where.
If it stayed after I removed them, then I would gone through photos, etc.
Linda,
Move one item at time and watch for the skull(s). When one Hub does not have skull(s) after a day. then go to the next Hub.
I have one red skull popped up as a possible link to phishing or malware. I have not got such a link on my hub. BUT I did have an affiliate link which I made using bit.ly - do you think that is what google flagged up?
I sent google a message telling them that they are wrong.
Now I have to wait for the skull to vanish. But it's made me nervous because I have used Tiddly to shorten quite a few of my affiliate links' URLS - do you think I have to go back each link and change them to long original URLs? What a pain!!
OK. Luckily I think I only used it once. Do you think Tiddly is OK?
I am not familiar with tiddly. I don't use sites that make bitly links for you. I use Amazon shortened links and bit ly links by Viglinks.

I've got the "Overly Promotional" red skull of doom on my top trafficked hub.Naturally it was the first one I edited. The affiliate links and "overly promotional" warnings at the top of the hub went away in the workshop. I republished it last night, and it's still published...

I am so tired of trying to second guess the requirements. It seems that it takes 2-3 edits to go from UF engagement to Feature. Could someone please check out my recent edit which I edited again after getting the circle? I removed 1 of the 2 Zazzle links and another to a blog which may have been...

My account page is now peppered with red skulls saying several of my hubs contain "malicious links." I have removed all links except 3 on one of my hubs. One link is to a Wikipedia article. Is Wikipedia now considered malicious? The other two links are to my own...
