No one is allowed Who doesn't find this thread 'interesting'. Thank you. :-)
About the same thing I think of all the other thousands of gods invented by man over the millenia, whether it be Shiva, Thor, Huitzilopochtli or Naiyenesgani. An interesting look at our ancestors as they struggled to understand, calm their fears of the unknown and, always, support the priesthood.
It's rather sad that modern man continues to make up belief structures instead of actively searching for knowledge of our world, but it is what it is. It's a lot of work to actually learn and understand (and we've progressed so far that no one person can know it all) - lots easier, and far more comforting, to make up our own stories that also serve to calm our irrational fears.
The problem is not actually "God". The problem is actually inside all of us. Hint: Why human beings believe 'anything' at all?
There is a strong evolutionary imperative to believe things with no evidence. It is a survival mechanism. Eventually it will wither as it becomes more and more a hindrance to human reproduction. This is why atheism is on the rise in most developed countries. "God" does not exist so "God" has never been the problem. People so out of tune with themselves is the problem.
It becomes (extremely) difficult to differentiate between what is 'belief' and what is reality.
It's quite like the scenario of convicting a president for a crime: Who has the power to legally punish the President of a nation? You may answer: "the Supreme court judge, by the power of constitution".
But what if a 'constitution' itself is corrupt at its foundational level?
Perhaps - some times - so what?
It is nothing like this at all.
Not really looking for a conversation are you? You completely ignored what I said. Why do so many religionists do this? You ask a question and ignore any answers to tell us what is what.
Odd - you still did not respond to my answer to your question or answer my questions. We already know god-belief causes nothing but conflicts. No need to prove it again.
I hope that you realize that a person may get so pressed and conditioned to a 'belief' ~ that he/she may mistake it to be a reality. We all have been a victim of this phenomenon. Personally speaking, I have seen no one in my life (except 1 or 2) who was 'unaffected' by this, so to speak, 'belief-flu':
People might consider themselves to be 'free' of any beliefs. But it reality, their 'beliefs' may have spread so far into their consciousness ~ that they are fundamentally incapable now to appreciate the possibility that they may have a 'belief'.
The point is: religion hasn't invented this thing. But religion has been one of 'its' many by-products. Take any Hollywood movie, or any News broadcast ~ these videos will contain many beliefs. If they don't ~ they can't make any money. You must hit people at their 'beliefs' if you want to manipulate them.
It's a global phenomenon.
And Atheists/Agnostics/Skeptics fall a prey to it while they think that they are not.
Regards
Yes - you seem very conditioned that your beliefs are reality. Are you capable of seeing that your beliefs are not real?
"Yes - you seem very conditioned that your beliefs are reality. Are you capable of seeing that your beliefs are not real?"
~ How did that 'seem' to you (In other words: How did you realize that I have beliefs, and what my 'beliefs' are)?
Tell Me, Honestly, What You Think About This "God" Thing?
Are you a thing?
G-d is a being, please.
Regards
Wasn't that your reason, to say god exists?

Everyone keeps talking about heaven and hell, and I honestly don't believe the average Christian understands the insanity of this belief, so I thought it might be helpful to share the numbers.Statistics show that an average of 56,597,034 people die worldwide every year. With 33% of the world...

I'd like to hear HubLand's opinion about the "god of the gaps"."But a careful reading of older texts, particularly those concerned with the universe itself, shows that the authors invoke divinity only when they reach the boundaries of their understanding. They appeal to a higher...

Do you believe in the Summerland or something similar such as Tir Na Nog or Heaven, etc.? Do you also believe in reincarnation or a recycling of energy? What do you, as a Pagan, believe in as far as life after death? For me, I am a believer in the Summerland (I also refer to it as Tir Na Nog from...
