How come I have views on an unpublished hub?

   I know that our own views are counted on the stats page but I have not opened this hub to edit it today and yet I can see that I have had four visits!

      Don't forget that "1 day" means "the past 24 hours", not just since midnight.

      Hi Sallybea, that happened to me last week. I was working on a hub and saved it for the next day then I noticed I had one or two views. Not sure what's going on?

      I had this happen too, and I realized that during my working on a hub to be published in the future, that I had already placed the unpublished hub under my related hubs so that my other hubs would appear under the "Previous" and "Before" spots under the newly published hub when it was actually published.  Much to my horror, later I was looking at some hubs and saw that my unpublished hub was showing up under "Previous" and "Before" on other hubs!  So, I am mindful now, not to place it under related hubs until it is actually published.

         Snap, DrMark said the same thing below.  I find that interesting, I don't think I did that but I am beginning to doubt myself now.  It is likely but don't think so.  I will definitely bear this in mind next time I write one.

         To Sally, I have wondered this before.  I didn't always look under the last 24 hours, just in the total views.  Which I thought were me, as I was adding photos, etc.

      Have you already put that hub in a group, or is it still an orphan? If you have assigned it to a group already, do you know it shows up in the "previous" and "next" selection at the bottom of your already published hubs? I found that out since I had some not even published, with no text at all, but if they were in a group they showed up on my other hubs. If someone clicks on it, it is blank, but the image and title still appears as "next".
      Now I wait and put them in a group right before publishing.

         No, actually I only just assigned it to a group and published it a few minutes ago for the first time.  That is something to bear in mind though, thank you.

         That's good to know. Since I am so ADD with my writing topics, if I think of a good article title/idea I go ahead and save it in a group to remind myself when I have time to write it. Sorting the title helps me find it quickly, but now I am rethinking the method. Thanks for the tip!

            Unpublished hubs don't show up in the group links when you're signed out of your account.

                  I rarely sign out either. I am not sure I understand either, so why would they show up either way if not actually published whether or not signed in?

      yeah me too. I have old hubs which are 1 year old and still got views too. I think people are still searching for my hub titles

      I don't know if this is an accurate explanation, but I know that on the website for our business, we show views which are actually robots roaming around checking for keywords and content. That's how we get listed on the search engines.  It's hard to see unless you have an analytics program that differentiates the sources.  I may be wrong abou this, perhaps someone "tech-y" can clarify this.

         That is a real possibility as I have seen some of this happen in 'real time' Google Analytics - when the person viewing appeared to be a 'robot' I looked them up to see where who they were and they were what you describe here.

   I've always assumed this occurs when I access the hub in progress (hip) to edit. I'm usually in and out of a hip as I'm working on it.

   I've seen this question before and have wondered this myself.  I have had views appear on unpublished hubs that were not my editing.  I guess I can't prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt, but in the most extreme case it was ten views.  The answer I usually see to this is that it is our own editing, but I'm not convinced of that (as my own views for editing don't always show up at all).  I've read at least once from long-term hubbers that staff sometimes views hubs in progress.  The hub that received ten views while unpublished became a hub of the day.  So that answer seemed plausible to me at the time.

   There is also the possibility that you have one or two links to the Url that got made when it was published. These can still send traffic as the Hub is still there. It is just no longer being promoted by HP.

   Last week, I deleted a few hubs.  During the 24 hour waiting period for a hub to be deleted, one of them got 7 or 8 views.  That's more views than it had the whole time it was featured.  I don't get it.

      Interesting, perhaps you deleted it too early, sometimes hubs need to mature in order to receive traffic, why it received those views in that period is probably because it was manually done in the 24 hour period after you deleted it which means I think that it was still able to be viewed but I honestly don't know.

   I'm new here, but I have the same thing going on. I only have two hubs. One is published/featured. The other keeps getting denied. My featured hub has a 70s score and no comments. My rejected one has several comments and a 90s score.
   
   I noticed that when I submitted my rejected article for publication, it was listed as a "spotlight" on my profile. I participated in some forums and think people clicked on my profile and saw the hub/article. After the submission was reviewed and rejected, it was taken away from the spotlight.
   
   I wrote an article about new words/slang and I think I'm getting mislabeled as "keyword stuffing" and grammar.  I'm actually just doing basic teaching lesson plan work: introduction to the concept, explanation, sample use and summary.  Unfortunately, this might be coming across as spam.
