Why do some believe that it is a right for people to refuse to work

   and live off our tax dollars?  Why do they believe that more money ought to go to help those on welfare to live better without working for it?   What happens to our work ethic and the concept of responsibility and the can do spirit?  Why is victimology and passivity so attractive, even permissible?  Why do some further believe that more monies should be taken from the upper, upper middle, and solidly middle classes to be given to the poor?  It seems that they are virulently against capitalism and want a more communistic economy. What do YOU think?

      Yes, there are some people even though they are able bodied refuse to work.  They strongly contend that  the government should supply all of their socioeconomic needs.

            Exactly, they want to live the good life but refuse to work for it.  Instead, they believe that they should have others support them.  The work ethic as we know is gradually disappearing.  People seem to want success but are loathe to work hard for it.   It is the proverbial that all want to go to heaven but do not want to die.

               Taxpayers can't support the entitlement group forever. There will come a time when there just won't be enough money anymore. They already plan to make cuts pretty soon. I wonder what's going to happen then. Riots and more nonsense?

                  Also, some taxpayers are starting to see such people as burdens, even excesses.  They see such people as not contributors.  Yes, people will riot and it will probably be the taxpayers.  The so-called disenfranchised may riot but they will be crushed in one way or another.  After all they are the powerless ones(of their own making) in society.  Society always has a way of dealing with those who are not contributors.

                     I honestly don't think the taxpayers will riot. It would have to be a completely horrible situation for that to possibly happen.
                     
                     I do see the do-nothings rioting though, if they don't get their checks. Easily and immediately, probably.

      I have seen that look on my mom too and when I did I made it a point to move quickly and quietly away from 'ground zero'.

         Yes, the American people are tired of having their hard earned tax dollars support people who refuse to work.  Welfare has become quite a contentious issue.  Able bodied people are to work.  However, there are those who are on the socioeconomic dole.  Welfare was meant to be a temporary socioeconomic shelter for hard times; however, there is generational welfare which has escalated to a pathological degree.   Work has indeed become a dirty word for some people.   I feel that welfare should be cut by at least 70% and be set aside for those who truly need it such as the truly emotionally, mentally, and physically disabled who cannot work, the rest can work.   There should be workfare laws mandated to state that all able bodied people WILL work or else punitive measures will be implemented including imprisonment.

            I agree with most, but not the imprisonment part. I think that's a bit too drastic.

   As long as they have a way to earn or generate their own income then it should not be a problem not to work. However, they need to maintain some form of exercise just to keep healthy.

      We are not talking about those who are savvy enough to generate their own income.  Oh no, we are discussing those who want OTHERS to support them while they do absolutely nothing at all.  They are impoverished but want to live affluently on others' tax monies.
