I want to deactivate my Amazon programs that are currently showing but don't know how to do that. Can anyone help me with the exact steps to do this? Thanks.
You can go here and click deactivate:
https://hubpages.com/my/earnings/affiliate/amazon2
You can also look at all your hubs that have Amazon capsules and delete them.
Thank you very much for responding so quickly - and with the right answer. I went into my hub list and filtered by Amazon capsule and then deleted the individual capsules in each hub. I wish I didn't have to remove these, but the agreement in HubPages now states that you cannot earn from the Amazon Associates program independent of HubPages. I don't want HubPages to be the only source of my income from Amazon, so I deleted their capsules. Such a dumb restriction. Oh well. Thanks again!
Here is the language that appears when I want to sign up for the Amazon program:
Quote - By signing up to earn from the HubPages Amazon Program, you are electing to "stop earning" from Amazon Associates directly via the external tracker xxxxxx-20, which will be replaced when you submit your application below. We recommend that you proceed, because most Hubbers can earn more from the HubPages Amazon Program. You can "go back" to earning directly through your own, external Amazon tracker at any time. I have websites with Amazon Associate links and I don't want to stop them just so HubPages can have exclusive rights to my earnings from Amazon.
I think perhaps you are misinterpreting that message. I believe that only means that you will stop earning from your Amazon Associates account on HP (if you sign up for the HP Amazon program). I do not think either of those options will affect your Amazon earnings on other sites.
Yeah you've definitely misread it. You have two choices with amazon on HP -
use your amazon associates ID and insert it in the account settings page. Any amazon capsules you use in your hubs will display your ID for 60% of impressions. Earnings from purchases will be added to purchases from any other sites where you use the same amazon ID.
Or
sign up for HP's amazon program as part of HubPages Earning Program. HP give you a new code to track purchases on HubPages only. It doesn't effect your amazon use on any other site.
The main benefit of using HP's amazon program over the individual one is the %earnings rate which is 8.5% on most purchases.
You are misunderstanding the message. The HubPages program has NO impact on your ability to earn OUTSIDE HubPages, only INSIDE HubPages.
So you can happily use the HP Amazon program here, and still use your own Amazon account on all other sites.
I was wondering why you wanted to stop. I guess I should have asked. Susana has explained it all clearly.
Oh my goodness. The wording in HubPages is really misleading. I was surprised that they wanted to keep earnings exclusive to them. I'm so glad I asked fellow Hubbers. Thanks to all that replied. I'll go back and add some Amazon capsules to my Hubs. Have a great day - y'all. )
Phew! Glad you got some positive answers. Frankly, I thought, for a moment, that HP implemented a new rule

I'm kinda pissed and extremely dismayed. I've been with Hubpages and Amazon Associates for 5 years now and haven't made a dime with Amazon the entire time. I've reached out for help numerous times and not a single person told me that I have to get my Amazon links from the Amazon Associates website...

I'm a bit behind the ball having been absent for a bit and my Amazon earnings have gone way down as a result, so I'm considering switching to the HP Amazon Program and am wondering if in fact most Hubbers are earning more from the HubPages Amazon Program, as it states. I believe when this came out...
