For those of you who are quite successful on Hubpages monetarily, how did you get to where you are? Can you offer any tips for beginners like me?
Keep writing. That's all there is really. Once you reach a certain number of hubs - and it varies according to whether you write about popular topics or not, your traffic should increase along with your earnings.
Thank you! I intend to keep writing. I enjoy writing here on hubpages.
Hey there, welcome. Looks like we arrived around the same time. Did you get approved for Adsense yet?
Your hubs look really good and interesting, so try and get at least 20 more hubs going in the next few months, promote them on any social sites you feel comfortable with, (try not to overshare) and I think you'll start seeing your pennies turn into dollars if you haven't already.
I haven't reached payout yet, but I'm getting closer by the day so there is hope. Maybe some more seasoned hubbers will also reply to you, but most of them will probably tell you to be patient, edit your hubs well, use Google keyword searches, and promote outside of HP!
Hope to read more form you soon.
Yes, I have signed up
Thank you for your encouragement. I will keep these tips in mind!
Reach out to the community to build followers and hopefully they follow back.
Don't be afraid to try something outside of your comfort zone - you might surprise yourself (maybe try poetry, or an essay, or write a counter point to something you disagree with)
Quality writing speaks volumes
This is good advice. I haven't followed very many people and I stay within a comfort zone. I will try to write something different and reach out to more people.
Financial success = income > expenses
Expenses are 0 on HubPages
On the premise that writing for HP is my passion / hobby / pleasant leisure activity, any money I make here is financially successful because I don't charge for my time.
Facts and figs
This is not an exercise in boasting. I just want to give you some facts of an average long term hubber like me.
In over 6 years of being here, my portfolio only contains 60 fairly well maintained hubs, approaching 2 million views.
I achieve an average monthly income of between $*** and $***.
Per hubber score, I rank 108 out of 50,700 hubbers on Page 6 of
http://hubpages.com/authors/best/
How much do top hubbers make?
If you are wondering how much "top" hubbers make, speaking from my own experience, this is what I can tell you:
Last year, I made it to No1, Page 1, with a 100 hubber score. The glory lasted for a couple of weeks. My ego nearly blasted through the roof, but my earnings were still in the same 3 digit bracket. Ego boosts can give you confidence, or they can make you complacent.
Today, my concerns are not so much for my own achievements, as for the site as a whole.
How many of those 50K+ hubbers contribute valuable content to the site?
HubPages is, as previously mentioned, almost a university for web writing. It serves a very useful service to apprentice authors. While I welcome this policy, I believe that hubbers below a certain hubber score should not be published outside the membership area while they are learning the ropes. In other words, publication should be restricted to hubbers over a certain hubber score.
With this in mind, look at the figures again, my estimate is that there aren't 50,700 authors on hubpages who contribute valuable content to the site. Members, yes, but authors? Come on!
Fewer "authors" and better content is the key for HubPages to survive and flourish. We are a big family. Almost too big to take care of everyone.
Anyway, I' stop rambling. Main points to consider:
1. Know English well.
2. Say something new
3. Supply good images, videos
Happy hubbing...
Thanks! I didn't mind the rambling, you brought up some good points! Happy hubbing to you as well!

This is more for conversation than anything else. I also thought it would be good for me to get mine down in writing somewhere. I am not sure a forum counts, but here it is anyway. So, what are your goals here at Hubpages? Some that come to mind, and my answers are:1. Publish...

I have strived over the last 5 weeks to produce as many hubs as i can but to a high quality. I heard at first that if go around serial 'following' this can penalise your hubscoreI added a few people but then cut down when i heard this. I only follow about 12 people.i just noticed someone who has 25...

I have just started, so I dont expect it in the near future, but how many hubs, or how many months before you start making money? How much traffic is considered to be good traffic? Right now I am getting about an average of 75 hits per day on 4 hubs. Is that good? What...

My author score is now 88. I've been active on the forums, hopping hubs, and answering questions. I haven't had this low of score since when I first started. Does removing poorly performing hubs cause author scores to go down or what is the problem?

I am sort of disappointed. I try to be active in the site as much as possible, comment on other people's hubs, help out in the forums, add new hubs once every two weeks, participate in the question and answer and my hubscore is slowly decreasing. Any advice from expert Hubbers on how to...
