Repeatedly unfeatured despite revisions.

    http://hubpages.com/art/Kids-Crafts-Ide … s-Can-Make

I have overhauled this entire article, including removing all product links. Currently, it doesn't have any warnings (i.e. low-quality images, too many product links, etc.), yet it was marked unfeatured again after my most recent edits. This article follows the same format as many of my craft articles, the majority of which I've had no problem keeping featured. I don't understand why I've had so much trouble keeping it featured. Any advice or insight from the admins would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I feel that there are too many outbound links.  If I was looking for Kiddies Craft ideas, I would hope to find them on the page I first started reading.  It never seems a good idea to me to take people away from your pages unless it is so that they can buy a product you were talking about.  I would be inclined to re-create some of the ideas you sourced using your own images and words.

i think it is the category list, i tried changing my hubs catergory list, saw some changes , not much, at least better than nothing.

The first thing I noticed is that you have way too many outbound links. You can only link to two other domains. Another thing I noticed is that your link to your blogger site is being redirected to another site that uses pop up ads. This is not user friendly. That can, by itself, cause your hub to be unfeatured.

I don't know what the current HP policy is on outbound links domain limit, but I have dozens of articles with just as many, if not, more outbound links that I've had no trouble keeping featured. I don't have my own Blogger site linked anywhere in that article. There may be another Blogger link causing issues, but it hasn't been flagged as broken.

That may be the case, but remember that HP is a business and they want to generate more income. That first capsule that had links to your Feltmagnet hubs is great, but all of those other capsules had links to blogs written by other people/other sites. Are there no other available hubs (on HP or the HP niche site) that have the type of crafts you are looking for?
I do not know that this is what is causing your hub to become unfeatured so this advice may be way off.

I'm not sure how reminding me that HP is a business that wants to generate more income is a helpful comment. I suspect the nature of the linked content is what's causing it to become unfeatured repeatedly because I'm not sure what else would cause it at this point. However, as I said previously, I have dozens of articles of this nature with many non-HP links, most of which have I've had no trouble keeping featured. I don't know why this one is so problematic.

It wasn't your blogger site then.  But it was a blogger site, and it was redirecting to a spamming website. You've got to be careful with the kind of sites you link to. I didn't say it was a broken link.

As for too many outbound links, I think they don't notice unless you update a hub. That's when it goes through QAP again and will be moderated.

randomcreativeposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Obviously, it wasn't redirecting to a spamming website when I linked it or I would not have included it. I will check all the links again and see if I can find it. I'm not sure if it first went unfeatured right after an update or not. I'm frustrated now because I've made several significant revisions in the past month and can't get any clear feedback about exactly what's wrong.

Since you're no sure if it went unfeatured after your last update, going forward keep tract of changes you make and the dates you make them with other hubs.

I still suspect your other hubs are not caught because QAP only is repeated when you make changes, so it can avoid moderation if not changed.

I randomly selected a couple of your hubs, so I can't tell you which it was that linked to that site that used a pop up ad, which is considered spamming by may. Besides, HubPages also might moderate it just for the fact that your link redirect to another site.

I have the same problem with my first hub. I have published tweaked and republished it several times and still it is not getting featured therefore it is unpublished. I have followed all the guidelines for a tech hub such as original content, including polls, tables and videos. The images are all my own. I have no links besides an amazon link of the product I review and that is just before the comments in the bottom. I feel discouraged because I am not being told what is wrong with it.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I agree that my biggest frustration at this point is that I don't know what to do to fix it. I keep getting the same generic emails about its unfeatured status. Those emails actually encourage users to seek help in the forums, which is what prompted me to start this thread.

To me it says it needs improvement but not explaining much besides that.I think they must be more careful and welcoming towards the newcomers here.

The number of outbound links is not a problem.  Hubpages gives zero damns about how many links you have so long as they are relevant and don't break any of the other rules.

I see no overt problems. My best guess is that they think a compilation just doesn't have enough on-page content.  It might help if you added tips related to each type of craft project based on your own experiences.

psycheskinner, You are wrong and it doesn't do any good to misguide others without doing your research first.

The fact is that HubPages' rules do not allow more than two links to the same domain. Here is the page where this is stated:  http://hubpages.com/faq/#overly_promotional

I never said you could have more than two links to the same domain.  I am responding to multiple people in this thread saying you can have too many links in total.  Hubpages does not now, and has never had, a rule about that.

As Psycheskinner says, there's no limit on the number of outbound links to different sites (there's a limit of two links to the SAME site, that's all).   However, it's always a risk to create a Hub with lots of links, because (unlike a Wordpress blog, say) there is no way to make sure all the links stay valid.

I suggest you check each of the links to make sure they're going where they're supposed to.

I clicked on a couple.  You have one to Modabakeshop for the wreath:  when you click on it, I assume it should go to the tutorial on how to make that wreath, but it just goes to the front page.  Under HP's new rules, that's not acceptable - and as Glenn says, it only takes one "illegal" link to get a Hub unpublished.

So the hub includes zero instructions? The hub doesn't show or explain how to make a single one of the crafts featured in this article? My thinking is that is the main problem. I believe that HP doesn't want readers to have to click away for information -- they want the reader to find everything she needs right in the Hub.

Why write a craft hub with no instructions on how to make the craft? As a reader/consumer I find these types of articles very frustrating. If a craft article doesn't include instructions for making the craft, it is incomplete, IMHO, and missing the most important part.

I reckon this is the main problem.

Makingamark was always complaining that her 'curated lists' were being unfeatured.

Your title is 'Craft Ideas for Kids: 10 Homemade Gifts Kids Can Make' but a searcher will not find craft ideas only links to sites that do.

Also, it is probably not the reason that your page was unfeatured but there are a lot of typos. The first paragraph is hard to make sense of.

Could you review my hub too? It is having the same problem.

I am not a good person to give advice about technology, but I did take a quick look at your article and I don't know why you are having trouble getting it published. It looked good to me at first glance.

I went back to take a look at it again and it is now unpublished, so I can no longer see it.

Elephone is a smartphone, correct? If so, it might help to change the topic category to smartphones instead of handhelds:
      HubPages»Technology»Communications»Smartphones

But again, I am hopeless with technology.

Did you get an email with any sort of clues about why it was rejected? Some common problems with rejected articles:

      Promotional links
      Too many products for sale
Article already published elsewhere on the web, or one that is suspiciously very similar
Photos lifted from elsewhere on the web; author does not have permission to use them

Did you get an email from HP regarding your hub being rejected? If so, there should be a link somewhere in that email which will allow you to make a new forum post with a special link to your article so that we can read it, even though it is not currently published.

You will probably get more and better help if you follow the emailed link above and start your own thread, rather than tacking onto the bottom of this one.

      Good luck!

Thanks for your very helpful reply. Yes it is a smartphone but I couldn't find the category for smartphones. I got an email that just says that my hub failed the quality assessment process but it doesn't day anything specific about it. I just saw the link and made a post in the specific forum for feedback.

Now I found the proper category about Android phones but It won't let me publish. Maybe I have done that too often.

          Are you publishing or editing?

I changed the category but it seems it wont let you publish without editing the content. I made a small change in the text and now I republished.
