I have a 2 questions...
1. since there is a kitchen section under home and family that includes various kitchen appliances, why not move some of the home appliances from the home appliance section to the kitchen section?
* coffee grinder
* coffee maker
* breadmaker
* conventional oven
* electric blender
* food processor
* garbage disposal
* juicer
* microwave oven
* refrigerator
* freezer
* stove
* oven
* toaster
I can't think of any other room in the house that these home appliances would be used other than in the kitchen.
2. Can you add "Kitchen Mixers" or change the name of "electric blender" to "Blenders and Mixers" (There are different types of mixers that could be included here- hand mixers, stand mixers, margarita mixers, etc
Hi Whitney,
Thanks for your comments! I agree with your thinking and have made the changes that you suggested.
Cheers,
-Larry
cool. thanks :-)
What about adding the option for stand mixer, hand mixer, margarita mixer, etc under the blender and mixer section? It just has blender as a subcategory.
Toaster and microwave oven could be a part of the kitchen electronics... Maybe...
Hi Whitney,
Thanks for noticing that I forgot to move Toaster and Microwave. They are now moved.
I'm fine with adding the additional mixer subcategories. I've added Stand Mixer, Hand Mixer, and Margarita Mixer. I may add more later.
Cheers,
-Larry
I agree too but couldn't resist mentioning that I use my coffee grinder in the dining room (because the outlet/plug in the dining room make it easier). In spite of that, I'd still call it a "kitchen appliance".
Hi Whitney,
I changed the category "Toaster" to "Toaster & Toaster Oven".
Does that help?
-Larry
It does.
I found a few more.
In foods>Culinary Arts & Cooking Techniques
You have cooking utensils, types of ovens, slowcooker, bakewave, and appliances wouldn't those work better in the kitchen category? With ovens, bakewave, and slowcooker in the kitchen appliances section?
Hi Whitney,
Good observation. I just fixed the typo for "bakewave" which should be "Bakeware"
I'll move the other categories later this afternoon.
Cheers,
-Larry
Larry
I write on Wood burning Stoves and the nearest category I can get is kitchen/stoves. This is obviously intended for cooking stoves.
Any chance of a category specifically for wood burning stoves under home appliances?
Hi Rik,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I added "Wood-Burning Stoves" to "Home & Family/Home Appliances"
-Larry
Cool... I think bakeware in is the kitchen section. does it need to be in the foods section too?
in the stoves section, you could have wood burning, electric, and gas.
Larry i'm good at categories... You should see my home computer, everything's within a folder within a folder... I'd love to help out if I could. I'm just seeing the kitchen ones now, with my new hubs. I only really looked at the animal categories before, and even still there are so many things that come up that may not be there. I don't know... Just a thought.
Also, I was looking at amazon categories when looking up products, and they have home and garden. To me, maybe not to others, but to me it makes sense to have family in its own category.
Hi Whitney,
I am very glad to get your input and suggestions for categories. Feel free to keep submitting any suggestions that you have. :-)
I removed Bakeware from "Food" so it is only in Kitchen and added the categories of stoves that you suggested.
I agree with you that Home & Family should really be two categories. Unfortunately, it is a bit more difficult and time consuming to split a top-level category into two parts.
I may be able to get that done in the next month or so.
Cheers,
-Larry
I just hope to help. Thanks for the changes.
I think with making family a category on its own, you could do a lot more with the subcategories. Right now it's just a catch-all type category it seems. It'd be cool to do whenever you had the moment.

It would be useful to be able to sort our hubs into categories on the profile page. This would make it easier for readers to see what else is available in subjects that interest them, and also remind writers to work on a niche. I think the option was available on the old profile page - was it...

I like hopping hubs, learning new things and meeting other hubbers. However, I have absolutely no interest in reading hubs on religion, politics, poems, fictional stories or some far away place I will never visit so I skip them. Usually this is no big deal but I just hopped about 30 hubs and no...
